Im sure there is more to this but, The big cut everyone is waiting for is Newman and if they wait till 4 or after they can designate him a june 1st cut and save 6+ mill vs the cap. if they do it now they will only save 4+ mill .

Because they were probably contracts that allowed it without any penalties. Tnew won't get cut until June 1st.

I'd check with someone like Adam but that's how I understand it. It basically helps both parties, the team gets early cap relief and the player hits the open market earlier.

Don't be surprised if the very first news story we see out of Dallas at 4 today is about Newman getting cut. Buehler will also likely get a quick axe as he'll save us another $1.5 million.

It's more likely they wait to sign a FA corner first but I could definitely see him getting the axe at 4:01.
