It goes back to the 70s ...7 NFC championship games....5 super bowl appearances....on prime time TV every WEEK...Captain America was QB and we had gods coach. Innovative offense and defenses....using computers to evaluate talent....stealing first round picks to acquire too tall and dorsett. The 1975 draft..... Tex Shramm bringing cheerleaders and a major power in the NFL.

The Hollywood Henderson Era and the name America's Team name incensed the hatred. And just being good year in and year out.....the cowboys were everyone's SB every sunday.

So the hate goes way back....although media wasn't like it is now ...the media still made the cowboys dirt front page...hollywood, Bob hayes, Lance rentzel, Septien, Duane Thomas.

I was hoping some of our Fans that where around in the early Landry days could give us some perspective on this subject. I've been watching the Cowboys since the early 80's When Danny White was the starting qb and I've never seen the type of hatred towards a Orginazation like I seen over the weekend from the National Media.

Was it always like this with the Cowboys? I remember as a kid some people being bothered by Jerry Jones when he fired Tom Landry and brought Jimmy Johnson in to be the coach but that was about it. When Jerry signed T.O. I definitely started seeing the hate because a lot of the media didn't like T.O.

I was watching ESPN on Sunday and the Greg Hardy stuff had some how become a we hate Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys ##### session. Chris Berman says "You're Americas Team now act like it". ***?It felt like the entire country was rooting for the Cowboys to lose as if Justice was served because of it.

It really feels like there is a deep down jealousy or hatred towards this organization from the National Media. When did it begin?

I've been a fan since 78-79 can't remember exactly what year, but I was 5 or 6. Here's my list of the Cowboys points of hatred.

1) JJ's handling of Mr. Landry
2) 90's Dyansty
3) JJ's handling of Jimmy
4) JJ letting Emmitt leave
5) TO signing and drama
6) Letting Parcells leave early

Honestly I don't think it's as much hate and dislike now, as it has been for big things in the past. The media in general likes big stories, and they also like the circus. The Cowboys are the epitome of both because of Jerry.

It was at the confluence off our first Super Bowel win and the catchphrase "America's Team."

What are you talking about? Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but if it's the play where Beasley got tackled over the middle, that was very clearly not a face mask, and a great no call.

Yeah, it looked like it at first. Replay showed it wasn't

I think a lot of the media outlets began openly bashing the cowboys when it became common to have former players as "analysts". A lot of those players brought their hatred of the Cowboys to the studio. That, combined with the growth of social media, brought us to where we are now. It is easy to bash people/organizations via social media. The mediots just jumped on the bandwagon, unfortunately. This is just my opinion, of course.

I remember some hate in the 70's. It was the America's team era and the fact we were always on TV and beating all the other teams. Never understood it because Pittsburgh was winning during that time too but everybody always loved them. I don't think the real big hate really got going until the 1990's though. The media got bigger and although there was hate toward the 70's Cowboys, Landry was pretty well respected. Jerry just made it too easy to hate him. I didn't care much in the 90's because we were winning and it made it extra special to stick it to the haters. The last 20 years it's different because the only thing we are known for are off the field problems and choking. That's why it feels worse. We aren't sticking it to them anymore.

Cause all those players on all those teams Dallas used to beat the snit out of back in the day are now on tv as "analysts"

And they have no professional integrity. So they bash Dallas every little chance they get

Yep. I posted the same thing, then read your reply. It's gotten to the point that the more obnoxious they act on the set, the better they think they are...and a lot of people eat that garbage up.

Absolutely correct. He got Beasley's shoulder pad. It was perfectly clean.

I thought it was just the usual jealousy that goes along with being a dynasty. Now I think it's because we're one of the great franchises and they know we'll be back on top...someday

I don't mind being the most hated team in the league though. Because

A.) It just means your franchise has experienced lots of success, and

B.) It makes it so much sweeter when you win it all and you get to bathe in the haters tears.

Problem is, we haven't won jack in 20 years, so it's making that 2nd part a bit difficult.

It's not just the media, it's other fans. I'm an auto racing fans and am a member of a couple of auto racing forums. They have sections for other sports where many also talk football. I've learned to stay away since as the only Cowboy fan, any mention of them and I get piled on by all members no matter which team they support. I do occasional drive-by's like tonight when someone there mention the Cowboys losing streak since Tony getting hurt, I left them this message..

The only saving grace in this is it shows that people who think Tony Romo isn't a great QB how stupid they are.

It actually got a "like" by a Giants fan.

The hatred really started when Jerry took over the team. I have been a fan since 1972 and there wasn't the hatred that we see today. Tom landry and the boys were well respected not like the circus we have now with this team and front office.

I was at the ESPN Zone in Washington Dc when the Cowboys lost to the Giants in the playoffs in 07 and the Eagles, Commanders and Giants fans were all teaming up against the Cowboys fans in that place. When Romo threw that last interception you should've seen how all those fan bases were jumping up and high fiving each other. It was sickening to watch.

You mean after they missed a very blatant face mask on Beasley in the open field?

I mean seriously. How do they miss that call?

Because his face mask didn't get grabbed. This is a prime example of fans seeing what they want to see.

The media is the ultimate band-wagoners....

They will praise you when you're riding high and winning and kick you when you're down and losing. That's the way the media operates, doesn't matter who it is, sports, celebrities, politics..... It's not journalism anymore, it's about sensationalism.

If they're fans of some other NFL team, we're above them and therefore, they're below us. Jealousy breeds envy/resentment/hate.

There's only 1 America's Team and it's us. It'll always be us. We'll always be the most relevant team in America. The Forbes list, TV ratings, fan polls, attendance, and success in the Super Bowl era aren't lying to you.

Don't get mad at the haters. Simply point and laugh at them.

Love 'em or hate 'em. If we were winning more, they'd love us. For a long time here now, they've profited from hating us.

Maybe once ESPN finishes imploding it'll be different, though.
