When did they make videotaping signals illegal?

I guess you're one of the ones screaming about them cheating in the Super Bowls?

Not at all -- a result is a result.

The oldest reference that I can find referring to the use of video equipment to steal signals being illegal is from the '90s but it isn't definite whether it is or not but if you want to get hypertechnical, the use of the video would have required the consent of the Commisioner and if any players were filmed, the NFLPA to be above board.

What about all of the other incidents at their staidum? Dead headsets going bad during a opponets series...huh? There are lots of teams saying the exact thing about playing the Pats...it's not JUST the video taping, there are other allegations too! What about those?

Why shut up about the SB's? The old saying, "If it smells like a rat, it's most likely a rat"..

Anyway carry on...

*shrugs* these incidents happen a few times a year at TX Stadium, FedEX, Lambeau, etc-I guess that makes us, the Skins and the Packers cheaters as well?

Incidents vs. video tape?

Listen, again!! If the rule was instituted in 2006, he broke the rule in 2007!

Got it...no excuses. The NFL says from this point on, you don't do this...well guess what? He did it anyway...

Maybe Bullicheat has short term memory. Rule change in 2006... he forgets before game 1.

Gets another memo 9/6/07 and forgets by 9/9/07.:nolook: :splat:

When? 2006? If so then all the whining about the Super Bowls is just whining, all the crying about them winning 3 out of 4 is just crying. I'm not saying they didn't break the rules, I just wanted to know when it became illegal. The funny thing is I still don't know for sure.

Anytime I hear people refer to points people make that they dont agree with as "whining" and/or "crying" I immediately dismiss their ability to make a strong point.

Don't know when videotaping became illegal but I think it was before 2006. Don't forget the memo Goodell sent out in 2006 was a reminder that it was against NFL rulfes to videotape from the coaches box, carry videotape & equipment into the lockerrooms at halftime, etc.

Understand Goodell sent a reminder of this policy specifically to the Patriots on the Thursday BEFORE the Jets game. Seems to me that Goodell efforts in 2006 and just before 2007 season opener had to have been based on substantially allegations cause I bet the 2007 letter was strictly based on allegations concerning the Patriots.

I've heard 2006, is that right?

It never was legal, however last year they decided to put it into the rules and regulations. Of course Mr. Bellicheat decided that he could interpret them differently.

When did they make sleeping with 12 year old boys illegal? Or pooping on stranger in the subway - when did that get outlawed?

That's what I want to know.

Tell us when you were busted?

Simple answer

it was never legal

Never did the league allow for the use of videotaping technology to secure footage of other teams defensive, or offensive calls.

Anything else?

Dude, you are the biggest Pariot Apologist on this board, what gives:confused:

Maybe you need to go find a Patriot MB and all can all agree with each other that it is no big deal.

Unlike you apparently, I actually care about the integrity of the game. I dont care what year what rule was voted in. It is called winning with integrity, this means you dont steal signs, you dont jam other team's communications, you dont mic up your d-line.

JUST BECAUSE THIER IS NOT A RULE AGAINST SOMETHING, DOESNT MEAN IT IS OK TO DO IT............THINK ABOUT IT.

jimmy40;1644610 said:
Certainly your not stupid enough to think they were the only ones doing it if it was legal? Is it unethical to LOOK at the coach and see the signals? Why do you think offensive coaches cover their mouths when they call plays? Bad breath?

Of course you can LOOK at the other teams sideline, you act like we are all ******** on this board.

What IS UNETHICAL is VIDEOTAPING, JAMMING SIGNALS, MIC UP D-LINE.....:banghead:

Sorry Patroit Apologist, looks like you need to come up with another argument for the board.:laugh2:

Well either it's an official rule or not. Apparantly like the Bonds fiasco, it was not against the rules to use steroids till circa 2005. Somehow it appears NFL only made video recording illegal in 2006?
Heck MLB recently banned emphatimes that probably 99% of all hall of famers used. Ban them all after the fact as cheaters?

Pats first busted and held accountable. All teams try and steal signs - jmo
The smart do it and the morons get busted.

What used to be gamesmanship is now cheating. There is not a MLB baseball game going on today without "gamesmanship" and stealing of signs going on. Good news is Pats now can't cheat and will be a second tier team forward!

I think the problem is the timing of these incidents. They always seem to happen during a critical drive by the opponent. The radio problems at other stadiums are random.
