That could be a reason they cut Newsome early. Not sure if he still qualifies but he was oddly on the official site roster a few minutes ago.

Cuts had to be in by 4PM EST Saturday, waiver wire begins then.
At 4PM tomorrow they can sign PS players.

I'm sure they already have their list ready. And players have been told or asked, that if no other teams picks them up, they want them on the PS.

24 hours from cutdown deadline. You expect the league to keep an individual clock on each player at this time of year?
