How many more games do we need to see from Romo before he gets his contract?

For the record, I was always in the sign him before the season starts camp.

Well, you were right, and Jerry Jones was wrong. If he keeps playing like he did yesterday, we won't be able to afford Romo, who'll probably become a Saint.

Say WHAT? We can easily afford Romo. At the very least, he'll be franchised (with the exclusive tag) and won't be able to sign with anyone but us.

Why is it everytime he does something great the bar goes a little higher. Now he has to beat St Louis and NE. He will never be good enough for some people. Go root for the skins for a while, then come back and show appreciation for what you have. Sign him. BIG time.

I wouldn't sign him until Dallas reaches the playoffs. That's what it's all about, not Stats.

Did you wait buy your house at the peak of the housing bubble, too? Just to be sure it wouldn't go any higher? It's important not to buy a house until you know exactly what it could be worth someday.

Romo will be signed during the bye week....October 28.

That is 7 weeks into the season against some pretty tough opponents in Chicago and New England.

If Romo lights it up against either of those teams.......CHA-CHING for him.

If not.......Jerry waits until the end of the season.

I think you sign him that week as well. Its gonna be a lot of money and I don't care who you are....getting that much will surely occupy a little more of your week.

Give him the money during the bye week and let him have a couple days to see what he can buy.

Figure we are now looking at probably just below what Brady signed for. 60-75 million for 6 years. The devil will be in the details- signing bonus, maybe incentives, etc. Or Jerrah might look at stretching it out to 10. 75 million over 10 years is not too bad- especially if the cap keeps going up for at least a few more years.

We can't sign him until he can arrange armored escort for the 100 million he'll be getting.

He'll get more than that :(

I think he hits 100 mil for a very long term deal.

May only be 75 or 80 of real money but the number on paper will be astronomical.

10 mil per year average for sure imho.

He is not going to get as much as Brady. Brady has 3 rings and multiple Pro Bowls. Romo has 1 pro bowl and no rings. Not going to happen.

I'm sure Jerry and Tony's agent will get something worked out before year’s end. Jerry has always been willing to step up to the table when players have proven themselves.

Yes, but it is also all about showing guys you aren't stringing them along and signing them to good deals early.

Frankly, if we didn't wait until Roy or Bradie James had their contracts expire, I can't see ANY argument for not signing Romo ASAP.

That is correct -- but Bulger's 6 year 60 million deal (and that's mostly legit money, not like the Schaub deal) is a good benchmark here.

Also want to wait until the bye week or even the Philly game just to see how he doing in mid season. I certainly don't expect us to win them all but I want to see how he plays (if his OL can protect him) against tough teams like Chicago & NE & division rivals like the Eagles & Giants in their own stadiums.

As for amount JJ willing to pay Romo, I think JJ will have all the figures in his head & don't really expect that much of a problem. Actually, Romo will come much cheaper then using a high draft pick on a QB who never produces. Don't forget, we still are $12M+ under the cap for this year. I wouldn't be surprised if JJ goes for a 10 year deal.

Jerry should sign Romo to at least a 7-10 year deal ASAP. Don't play around. We hit lightning in a bottle with this guy.

I know the Boys never use it because Jerry makes up his mind and either go's another way or ponies up and pays, but we do have the F tag. So really, Romo isn't going anywhere if we don't want him to.

You don't think Snyder (or some other owner) would give up two firsts for Romo?

I don't believe 10 years is a possibility. In any case, do we really want to be tied that heavily financially to a guy who would be 37 and counting against our cap big-time by that point?

Probably 5-7 is likely.

Or a really big 3-year deal, where Romo can get another huge contract at 30. Depending on how he wants to play it.

Maybe I don't know about the exclusive tag. I thought two firsts could always liberate a franchised player.
