He'll be back when he gets back. I don't know why fans get so upset over this. Sean Lee has established that this is who he is, a great player whose body isn't able to hold up for a full season. There's a trade-off with him and I have no problem with it because of how good he is.

The problem in the past is despite us knowing of his fragility, the drop-off from him to the next player was too steep and our defense suffered greatly for it. It appears that now we might have the linebackers in place to keep them from being much of a drop-off and now we can just let Lee be that player who steps in and helps the defense play at a high level when he can.

What crap?

They are more prepared than ever for Lee to miss games. They would not have drafted a LB in the first round if they expected Lee to play all the games.

They also have better depth such as with Thomas replacing Wilber. Thomas is a legit backup that could fill in for Lee which was not true with Wilber.

I would work hard to get a fair contract with incentives for time played (better than the current one)
The Cowboys have a option out after this season with his contract. Not sure if they take it though. 7 million isnt much for his level of play. When he is on the field of course.

let's assume he wants to play football. enough to sign somewhere else if Dallas waived him.
I think it's a huge hit having Jaylon alone as your guy breaking down defenses. at least right now.
I would hope they learn from the past and restructure/extend and let him be rotational and straight into coaching assistant or whatever

That would be my plan if I am GM.

I agree with others regarding keeping Lee on as a coach!! I LOVE him as a player on the field, but I believe he is very useful on the sidelines coaching up the LB's as well.

Has there ever been a player coach in the NFL? If so, how would that work for the Cap?

I don't know if there has been in the salary cap era, but there were before that. Dan Reeves was a player/coach for the Cowboys in the 1970's.
