So the contract posted is incorrect? That says his 09 contract is 1.6 million.

It was from the NFLPA website but it is probably wrong given what WG and Adam posted. I don't know about the veracity of the rest of the numbers.

It is at least nice that we have Newman for a few more years.

Now we just got to lock up Witten and Roy. I would expect Witten to get Shockey type money and Roy will probably set a new salary level mark for safeties when he signs.

I thought there was a 6 year maximum term on rookie contracts even before the new CBA.
no, I am pretty sure its a 7 year. 6 years is the new CBA max.

What was posted is correct. He has an escalator clause that could raise his 2009 salary to $15 million, but that's irrelevant. His contract will void after the 2008 season -- unless we've signed him to an extension before then. But that's still three seasons away.

If he performs do you think we will pay him 15 mil. in '09?!?
He better have career years and be workin' on a string of consecutive pro-bowls by then........cause if not, 15 million maybe too much.

If I had to guess, I'd say Newman aint going anywhere. He's a hard worker, who is well liked in the organization. However, he'll be coveted by many other teams.

Newman is the **** though, at least we know he'll be here, for a couple more years.

I don't know - I thought Henson got a 7-year deal too.

My recollection is he got a 7-year deal. According to the NFLPA he is signed through 2009 with the following salaries:

2003 1111000.00
2004 305417.00
2005 583167.00
2006 860917.00
2007 1138667.00
2008 1416417.00
2009 1694165.00

Adam will come along sooner and later and settle this one.

I haven't read the rest of this thread but to my knowledge Henson got an eight year deal. Though the last four years were voidable.
