And we had the coolest jerseys in the history of football.

Seriously though, these types of games/rivalries is what made football so unbelievably popular for so long.

There was a genuine dislike, maybe even a healthy hatred, for the other teams. Players truly cared about the outcomes of games, and weren't in the sport JUST for a paycheck. They played the game with heart and didn't follow each other on social media or sign each other's jerseys after the game. Of course I'm speaking in generalities. There are still guys who care today, but nothing like yesteryear.

Real hits. Real grass. Real loyalty. Real, raw emotion. JUST football.

I'm not one of those "old guys" who think the past is always better or that technology is the downfall of society. But in this case, the NFL was light years better back then.

Can we ever come close to this again?

Rivalries are only rivalries when your team is good. That '94 team won three Superbowls, and our biggest obstacle was always the 49ers. Thus, the rivalry. We also remembered "the catch" a decade before.

This current team hasn't made a championship run since, well, the '95 team. So how are we supposed to develop rivalries?
