Sit them down. Give them clipboards and make them stand next to Marinelli and Kiffen during the games this season.

What I considered journeymen -- and they are, based on their tenures -- Selvie and Hayden have done a credible job. It would be wrong to replace these valiant mens with two who have had chronic "injuries" and seemed content to count their moneys and not contribute to the team.
In their prime, Spencer and Ratliff might have caught on to most teams, if not starters then as good backups. Their time, because of their slowness to get with the system, has come and passed.

Jerra, show the rest of the league the importance we place on Spencer and Ratliff -- as clipboard carriers when they decide they want to rejoin the team. I am tired of them. I am threw with them. I choose guts and determination (Selivie and Hayden) to chronic injury and smugness and selfishness.

Through thick and thin, let this year be the one that Hayden and Selvie revive their careers and be part of the most determined and gutsy D in the NFL.

Amens

Yeah, it was more a philosof . . .philesoph . . . more like me just upset about those two. I still say make both stand next to the coaches with clipboards in street clothes with whatever braces or crutches those poor babies might need to stand.
they've been coasting while their teammates sweat it out in the trenches.

Spencer needs micro-fracture surgery, was he really "coasting"?

Churning the roster and coaching up those players and seeing results on the field sends a message to the rest of the team.

To replace them with vets returning from injury under the circumstances of Spencer and Rat might send the wrong message and demoralize the troops.

Just a hunch, but, yeah, I believe both half been coasting. I might be wrong and they are horribly upset and worried about not playing . . . .

Let me put it this way, Jimma Johnson would half already thrown their butts to the curb, salary cap or no.

You can't cut an injured player, even if you think they are coasting...

Yeth, unfortunately. Ah believe I said sit them down (as in bench them) or make them stand next to their coaches on the sideline. The jimma example was just a shoutout to Jimma's no-nonsense policy or yore. Sorry for the confuciousness.

When did Jimma cut a player for getting injured? I know he cut a guy for fumbling twice in a game........

I get what the OP was getting at. I agree, keep the team young and hungry. Who knows, Rat may make this season, Spencer may not, but they'll be hungry to play again after watching these young guys play well enough to take their jobs.

No, he cut them for just stickin around, being nonproductive and such. Not when injured. But if you really want to believe these are of the longlasting valid, variety of injuries, you kin belief the Easter bunna exists and the farm subsidy checks are for the good of all.

Spencer's out..and I have a hard time believing Ratliff will play this year either. Even if he does, I don't see him being healthy enough to contribute the way some think he can/will.

So he really does exist?

My theory is that Jerry knew that he had to get rid of these players that helped the team get to where they are today.

Jerry just lost 10 million on the Spencer deal. Compensation for a job well done. Now, go away and take care of your family.

Jerry and Ratliff is a different story all together! When Ratliff and Jerry came to blows in the locker room, that was the end of that deal. And, Jerry is paying him for his service that helped bring the team to where it is now. Rest easy....

But, they both are beat up NFL players...maybe it is time to just get that check, and go away and let the kids take make some money. Jerry takes care of his players...but, he hates the friggen Easter Bunny!
