Very fun read. The "like a ship" passage...you lift that inspiration from "The Natural" or was it subliminal??!
Around 1:24...
To be honest, I thought the ship analogy was my own. There are some dated references, but that was not one of them.

well I enjoyed the read and agree with a lot of your thoughts. JJ is an easy target, I'm guilty of ragging on him at times, but he brings much of that on himself by being an owner/GM that makes himself so visible and outspoken. On the flip side though, we could do a lot worse and looking around the league, it's easy to find GMs that would infuriate fans around here. Winning it all in the NFL is very difficult and involves smart FO decisions but some luck too....

The funny thing is I had no idea what I was writing about until I was finished with the anecdote about my son. The moment I wrote the booger-eater line (which is all true, by the way) I remembered the picture of Jerry and knew what I was going to write about. From there it was all filling in the blank.
