LOS ANGELES -- The highlights for Dak Prescott from Saturday’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams are obvious.

The Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback had the two throws to Dez Bryant, including a 10-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. He also had the beautiful throw to Terrance Williams for a 32-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

But the most impressive part of Prescott’s performance was what he did when he was facing second-and-34 after the Cowboys were called for three penalties in a four-play span in the second quarter.

There aren’t a lot of calls for offensive coordinators in second-and-34 from the opponent’s 48-yard line.

I loved that too.. He turned a potential punting situation into a field goal try.

Romo takes Wednesdays off because of his back. As it should be. But the blessing in disguise is a rookie QB will have Wednesdays to run the first team in practice. Get reps he wouldn't see in his first season and maybe not his second unless Romo goes down.

I suspect Prescott will struggle at times. They all do. And perhaps the Rams were not a true enough test for all the accolades being foisted on him at this point.

But there are passes in that game which show his touch, and accuracy, and his ability to see the play and trust his receiver.

A very impressive start.

I wasn't a fan of the pick at the time but I was very impressed with him last nite and I hope he grows quickly into a gem. I'd be elated to be dead wrong about him.
