In these "premium" rounds, when would it be best to possibly make a trade down. Obviously nobody knows how the board is going to fall, but this is mock draft and the I THINK season. So let's have fun!!

Would it be better to trade down in round 1 or in round 2, or both?

Round 1: Trading down if Jenty/T-mac are gone, but if someone slips who was supposed to be a top pick, maybe you stay put, otherwise, it's team TRADE down baby!!!! Depending how far, I want value of course, but i'm STRONG in us getting a 4th round pick. It's going to be hell watching the draft knowing we don't have a pick for such a long time!!!!

Round 2: Maybe this is the round we could trade UP but i'd prefer a trade back to get that 4th i'm seeking. I know I mentioned this in round 1, (and i'm confusing the hell out of you right now), but I need my fourth, and this may be the way to get it. In the first round if we trade down to the 20's you're giving us a 2 or a 3.

Hopefully we don't get fleeced, and get the value that we should. Having extra picks for a team with so many holes in it will be beneficial, please give your thoughts

I would trade down in round 1 but stay put in round 2. At first my feeling was not to trade down too far, but now I am okay with trading out of round 1 and picking up more round 2 and 3 picks.

Round 1, yes. Maybe twice depending on how far you trade down the first time and who is left when you are on the clock.

Round 2, probably not. If there were 3-4 evenly rated on the board I would be tempted to move down a couple of spots if the phone rings.

Jerry needs to really work the draft this year. The Cowboys need all the picks they can get and maximize this draft as much as possible.

Wow interesting!!!! Can you get me a 4th too with doing this

I can't get you anything but trading out of round 1 should net them at least 2 second round picks and depending on where in round two, they should get more, maybe even a 3 and a 4.

Their pick is worth 12 points. The first pick in the 2nd round is worth 580. So you can see 2 second round picks will not get to 1200 points so the team trading with Dallas would have to come up with more.

A trade down in the 1st is encouraged as low as #20 (Broncos), #21 (Steelers) maybe #22 (Chargers) with the caveat of adding a player off the roster of those teams as a sweetener to the draft pick haul.
Denver: #20 (1), #85 (3), #122(4) Player - LB Drew Sanders

Steelers: #21 (1), #83 (3), #123 (4) * 2026 3rd pick. Player - TE Darnell Washington or WR Roman Wilson

Chargers: #22 (1), #55 (2), #125 (4). Player - RG Jamaree Salyer (*numbers workout without player added with Chargers)

If Dallas was to get one of these packages, I believe, they wouldn't entertain trading the #44 pick. But, me personally I would take a small trade back to add another rounder.

Trade down in round 1. Get 2 extra picks from it. One of them to get that 4th round pick back.
Or get and extra 3rd for sure. And if a 5th and a 6th or 7th. Package them to move into the 4th.

They have 7 picks in rounds 5 to 7, so getting 2 more there, they can get into the 4th.

IMO, we need to trade down twice.

Value wise, I’d prefer to trade down twice in the 1st, if we can. If not, trading down once each in the 1st and 2nd is a good option.

It's a double edged sword.
When pick this high - # 12, like Parsons - you should be getting a great player !
But, with Forrest Gump as our owner, we need to compensate for his hubris in giving our picks away.
Trading back in the first would reap better value then the second, but I wouldn't want to trade back into the 20's just to grab what we always do.
Remember last year how much we lost and fretted over during that long run from our 3rd round pick to our 5th. And got cleaned out on positions we needed ? Ground hog day !
I'm only trading back if we get cleaned out at the top, but somehow we need to recoupe that 4th. We have more needs (Starters) than picks.

There could possibly be a handful of players with borderline 1st round grades at that 44 pick in part because teams in the late 20s are going to start reach a little for OL, maybe WR, CB, DE to patch holes instead of BPA hoping it gets them past that last little hump!
I’d much rather do it in the first, outside of Johnson who can immediately start I don’t see a lot of players who grade there making the impact the pick should. Too high for a guard or even a right tackle, too high for a strong side DE and too high a # 2 receiver especially if they go to this run first offense!

I haven't really studied the boards this year but at #12 we could be in a nice spot to take a player that is top 10ish but has slid to us. If so, stay & play.
I have heard this draft is weak at the top though so maybe the players who make it to #12 aren't that distinguishable from #20. If so, trade down.

In general I am always open to trading unless I believe the guy(s) I could choose are just too good to pass on.

The value is trading down in the first. You can normally pick up either a 2nd rounder or early 3rd rounder and dont even really have to move that far. At #12 I am not sure there is going to be someone significantly better than there is at #20.

We need all the picks we can get every year because we do nothing in FA.

Trading down in round 3 can net you a 4th round pick. It doesn't have to be the first two rounds, if the 4th round pick is what everyone is worried about recouping.

I am with 437 in his trade downs, but would add Green Bay to the list

12, 149 for 23, 54, 124 then get your 1T at the bottom of the first.

I would say in round 1. trade down to 15-20 range and you can get either a 3rd or 2nd round pick in the process. with all the holes in our team, we need hight round picks to get some talent added. lower round picks are a crap shoot

Would the Steelers trade up for Sanders.
Would they or someone else go up for Dart, or is that too rich? Dart has Bo Nix comparisons and Nix went at 12 although Bo was more polished imo.
