The Giants offensive game plan was clear as day: dink-and-dunk, short passes, Eli taking 3 step drops and releasing quickly, avoiding the long pass, down-field developing plays, etc.
The by-product of the game plan was that our DBs didn't have to be the heroes and cover their receivers and backs for an eternity. Makes a big difference, no?
But, I am struck by the fact that an opposing team came up with a game plan that FEARED our pass rush.
When's the last time you can remember that happening? I'd say 1995!
Now, the entire complexion changes with Gregory out (I think), unless someone steps up to fill the void (paging Demarcus).
But ....
I am looking forward to the post-bye week games (Gregory [hopefully], Crawford, Harty, Lawrence on the same line on 3rd downs). If we can hold our own over the next few weeks, maybe we'll see the opposing offensive coordinators game-planning with a bit more fear in their hearts.
And that will be a good thing to see play out on the field.
