When will Kyle Wilbur be ready?

Any word on when he may be ready to see the field?

I think he hurt his finger, not his eyes - so I am pretty sure he can see the field right now.

Even if he was ready, you think he'd dress for the game?

He should be ready for the Seattle game. The time line put him doubtful for game one, but an outside possibility.
however it would not surprise me if they kept him out another week.

I don't think there is any real hurry. At best, I think he might be able to contribute on STs. I don't see him in on any defensive packages. He's missed too much time already and it's extremely difficult to get Vet players up to speed during the season, much less Rookies.

He could possibly get some time behind Spencer this year. The coaches were really impressed with him on the strong side.

At some point, that may be possible but I would not count on seeing him in defensive packages in Seattle or anytime soon.

He's at it again folks. ;)

Any playing time Wilber gets this year is a bonus. Next year could be a big opportunity for him because both Spencer and Butler could be gone.

Then he would most likely be competing with a 1st round rookie who's gonna get more of a nod.......being a 1st round pick, unless he gives them a reason not to this year

Yes, but I sure would like to see him get some playing time to at least make sure he showed signs that he could handle it next year. Or else they will be in a bind to either keep Spencer, another FA, or find someone high in the draft.

Sure, but what we see from him is going to help to drive those decisions.

Count him as a redshirt rookie year

Nah this isn't Carter coming back from knee surgery, we have to know what we have in Wilber now cause of our situation at the position. We weren't going to draft another ILB high in this last draft, but we have to know if we need to draft an OLB high next year, and Wilber is a huge part of that decision.

We have to know what we can get from him sooner rather than later. He is supposed to be good in coverage (sounds like a commmon theme amongst our draft picks), but we have to see if he has anything in the pass rush since he didn't put up big numbers there in college.

He also needs to show he can hold the edge. Which early signs in camp were positive. That may be the most important quality of that position.
