I was kind of hoping he would say Anton Harrison. He has quickly become one of my favorites and is rising quickly but I think he wil be gone by then.

i would take him over Avila whom i actually like, imo we should not be drafting guards in the 1st RD unless they have all pro potential.I get the fascination for Avila,he is as local as you can get and he played at TCU and i bet our scouts have watched a lot of TCU games.

Lets say they address the OL and take Avila at #26 where would you go in rounds 2 and 3 ? What
position would you try to address in those next two spots ?

I have been having this fantasy all of a sudden about Harrison at 26, LaPorta in the second and BPA in 3.

I'd prolly go CB then WR.
But would be okay if you switched places with them.

I'd prefer other positions, but it's hard to go wrong with drafting good players on the OL.

The team has been very willing to spend their first round picks on OL, WR and CB. 10 of our first rounders since 2000 have been those positions, not including the picks given up for Roy Williams and Amari Cooper.

If he's BPA on their board at 26, I wouldn't be surprised to see the card turned in.

No thanks. Not at 26.

You have to remember that the draft content people need to drum up draft content for the next month or so. Think Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. You just say crazy things to get people to engage.

I've been hearing a lot of smoke around Avila, but I don't see it happening.

Basically, the Cowboys look for elite athletes in the first round, unless some BPA type super-stud like Martin or CeeDee falls and smacks them in the face. They are very biased towards taking ceiling shots, and that approach has been working.

Avila is a good but not great athlete, and he doesn't have Martin-esque, can't miss kind of tape. Couple those with a low-value position, and it just seems like the Cowboys would look for more in the first round.

He kind of feels like Connor Williams in a way. Local kid, RKG, good athlete, decent tape. They were fine with that in the second, and IMO C-Will did repay their pick. But I don't see McClay and co rolling with a guy like that in the first. If the Cowboys want a guard, O'Cyrus Torrance has the kind of outlier physical traits they look for. Even he's pry not athletic enough.

Get a playmaker WR who can stretch the field in the first. You can get an olineman in the 2nd who could step in and play G/RT depending on whos ready or not to start the season.

Yea, it’s really really hard for me to get on board with an OG unless we’re talking a blue chipper.

Now if you have an OT that can play LG year when then slid outside? I’m interested.
