Where are Cowboys spending Cap money saved cutting Dez?

I liked Dez. I think Dez loved being a Cowboy. I think he used to be a great player. I think he's still an above average player. I think all his sideline "antics" were never selfish and were just a result of his being competitive and passionate.

That said, I am okay with the move.

Why? Because even though he's still an above average player, he wasn't worth that contract, and I don't really think he moved the needle for us. Not to mention lots of injuries over the last couple years and a seemingly low on-field chemistry with Dak. And it's not like big time WRs have been winning Super Bowls. The best teams usually spread the ball around. That money can be better used to improve us in other areas.

So that's my main question. This move frees up a lot of cap space. What are we gonna do with it? Is it just gonna be used on signing our rookies and extending Martin? Or do we make a play for another free agent or make a move for a guy like Earl Thomas?

Because I just want to see this team improve. I think cutting Dez and allocating that money elsewhere, as much as I like Dez, can improve this team. But if this just frees up money and we don't do anything of value with it, then I don't like the move. I'm hoping it's the former.

they have some players they need to pay in the very near future, Martin, Lawrence, Zeke and Dak. Where does that money come from? To me that makes sense, to cut Dez and use that money to help sign these players. Sure the cap is going up, but so is the prices to sign these players. Obviously they will need to make more moves, but this is a start.

I don’t think it was about just money
Sure it clears cap room but if it was about money they’d ask him for some cap relief I suspect
I think it was much deeper than money
And signing Martin or Dlaw actually costs less than they get paid now
