Where are they now?

I think all six of our draft picks are likely to make the team this year. I think Brandon Magee and Jakar Hamilton have a chance to do things as well. More so Magee. Kendial Lawrence has a shot to make this team. So I would say we're looking at probably 8 new rookies on the 53 man roster.

I think everyone from last year makes the squad, except Caleb McSurdy who will almost certainly be bounced. He wasn't particularly athletic for a 3-4 linebacker let alone a Tampa 2 4-3 linebacker.

Players on the bubble
Lance Dunbar
Philip Tanner
Alex Albright
Lawrence Vickers

Players to keep an eye on
Colin Cochart - TE
2012 Draft Class

Where are they now?
2011 5th round draft pick, Josh Thomas - Plays for 3rd or 4th corner for the Panthers.

2011 6th round draft pick, Shaun Chapus - fullback for the Lions

2011 7th round draft pick, Bill Nagy - backup c/g for the Lions.

So every player we've drafted since 2011 is still in the NFL.

2010 4th round draft pick, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah - I believe he is on the raiders, but does not appear on any depth chart that I've seen.

2010 6th round draft pick, Sam Young - 3rd string right tackle on the Buffalo Bills.

2010 6th round draft pick, Jamar Wall - CFL

Going back to 2010 only 6 drafted players are not on the roster, and only one of them is out of the nfl.

2009 3rd round draft pick - Jason Williams - third string strong side linebacker

2009 3rd round draft pick - Robert Brewster - AFL

2009 4th round draft pick - Stephen McGee - Houston Texans, 4th string QB

2009 4th round draft pick - Victor Butler - 2nd string outside linebacker, Saints.

2009 4th round draft pick - Brandon Williams - Some sources say that he is on the Arizona Cardinals, but I can't confirm if he is still on their team. Doesn't appear on any depth charts for 2013.

2009 5th round draft pick - DeAngelo Smith - I guess he played for the Jets last year, but does not appear on any 2013 rosters or depth charts.

2009 5th round draft pick Michael Hamlin - Appears to be a free agent, last played for the Commanders in 2011?

2009 5th round draft pick - David Buehler - Appears to be on the Giants roster. Ourlads has him as the 2nd string kicker.

2009 6th round draft pick - Stephen Hodge - Appears to be out of football.

2009 7th round draft pick - Mike Mickens - CFL

2009 7th round draft pick - Manuel Johnson - Appears out of football.

*depth chart listings can be entirely inaccurate.

IMO, the 2013 rookies all have a chance to make the roster, but I am very intrigued with the possibilities of the 2012 class. Other than the obvious guys like Mo and Crawford, Wilber looks ready to compete, Johnson and Coale if they can ever get healthy will.should compete for a spot, and Hanna, while likely being demoted to the #3 TE, could still see some time on the field if they go to 3 TE sets

say what you will, but the team has filled some holes in the last few drafts

I agree with your intrigue for the 2012 class, but I'm not certain that Wilber will make a great transition back to the 4-3. He is certainly undersized, and I'm not sure how potent a pass rusher he is.

I have serious hopes for Johnson and Coale though. I'm worried about Coale and Beasley making the team though. Wide Receiver is going to be a tough position this year. I would be mad if we didn't take at least 6 receivers, and I think that 6th receiver is going to be quite a player.

I think we'll see a lot more 13 than people think. Imagine the following scenario.

3rd and short. We come out of a 13 formation. The defensive line stacks heavy to stop the run. We then shift into the S13, the running back stays in to block for romo, the receivers go wide.

You now have 1 wide receiver, Witten, Escobar, and Hannah, and you probably only have one corner on the field. Witten, Escobar, and Hannah are all lined up against linebackers in single coverage, hell there might even be a defensive linemen on one of them.

Dude if you think Albright is a bubble player you're crazy. 0% chance he is cut.

500 dollars in signing bonus vs 555k dollars on a player that doesn't have a position on the team.

He will likely be tried out at defensive end, and I doubt he makes the team at that position. He has no chance at linebacker. Easy way to save half a million dollars? He certainly is a bubble player.

There's certainly a chance. The reality is that, he's basically a guy without a position. He might be a decent special teams guy, but that's not enough to guarantee a roster spot.

Thanks for the research. Of course, this is the most generous time of year to check who is still in the N F L, before rosters have to be trimmed.

If his salary is $555,000 we won't save anywhere near that by cutting him, because the only thing you save is the difference between his salary and the lower salaried player that replaces him.

First off, thanks for the work you put into compiling the information you put into this post. Second, I am assuming that in doing that you are trying to put it into perspective that we are drafting much better lately (which I tend to agree with) and that we are actually building a team through the draft (which I also agree with).

However, with the rosters being almost double what they will be on the first weekend of the season, many of the players listed will not be on a roster by that time. The list of players who still have an NFL "job" will likely be cut into heavily. Nevertheless, your original premise is still sound, if that was where you were going with that post.

Albright could be a roster casualty, but it is my opinion that salary cap will not be a significant factor in the decision of whether to keep him or cut him. If we don't want to keep him it would be nice to see us trade him to a team running a 3-4 for a 2014 or 2015 7th round pick. :)

I agree with this. We are thin at DE as it is IMO and Albright will make the team as a DE. At least, that's what I believe will happen.

I'm not sure how either Wilbur or Albright will be used in a 4-3. I would think Albright's ability to play a variety of different positions might help, but scheme might make either of these guys a star or expendable. We'll see.

Wilbur played his first 3 years in college as a DE. He is the same size as Demontre Moore from A&M who the Giants chose in the 3rd that most folks on this boarded wanted. Wilbur had better combine stats than Moore. Not that underwear olympics matter much, but Wilbur can play DE.

i think albright stays around. he is cheap and is a very good special teams player
gonna be a tough camp for wr's with a new guy on the roster and many of the lower roster guys not being any help on special teams. guys like beasley played well in limited time last year but gonna be tough for him since he can't really help you on st's. coale is another in the same boat. he did'nt get much of a chance last year with injuries but he needs to be able to contribute on st's

I still can't understand the logic in beasley played well last year Romo was picked off 3 times going to him in his limited snaps. The guy isn't big enough. Also I don't like quitters and he quit on his team and they let him back with open arms what kind of message does that send? Sorry I will be glad when Dez, Miles, Williams, Harris and Coale make this team and we can finally move on from the midget.

What makes you blame Beasley for these 3 interceptions that Romo threw towards him? Hit off his hands? Ran wrong route?
Also I was under the impression the QB can throw to any receiver he chooses on any given play.

Albright will be on the Cowboys in 2013. He's a jack of all trades kind of guy; the organization really values him as a player.
