I was real happy to be done with Garrett. I think he hurt the organization in many ways and ruined some good careers. McCarthy would not have been my first choice but I was glad he got hired. A real NFL coach with some pedigree. The question with Big Mike was how much of his success was Rodgers? I go back and forth on this. Rodgers has had other good teams and coaches. Never won another SB. Here is my take on Big Mike.

The good…
10-4 and in position to win the division. That’s a win for me.
Defense has vastly improved. Credit Quinn and some stud players but Mike gets a kiss on the cheek for this.
The slow starts that plagued this team for a decade are gone.
In game adjustments are apparent.
He has worked around some injuries which Garrett NEVER did.
Young guys have developed under Big Mike.
He won with backup QBs.
They are blowing some teams out which Garrett never did.
Hard to quantify but I think this team is less soft and more edgy. I like that. They have some swagger now.
I like the coaching staff he put together.

The bad…
Clock management has been suspect at times.
4th down calls are ugly at times.
He needs to reign in Moore a bit. Moore’s play calling can be infuriating at times.

Definitely more good than bad. I like Big Mike and think he has done a good job.

Your thoughts? Merry Christmas!

All fans complain about their coach and clock management, don't believe me, visit other forums as I do.
On 4th down calls, last Sunday he was as conservative as he's been since we've been here so I don't see a problem there.

But I may agree on the reign in Moore situation...

I will trust him until 3 years of futility and then I'm out.

Excellent post. I think MM is a good coach. With the coaches he has brought onto the staff, I rarely see us out coached like we were during the Garrett era. We actually make adjustments and play to our opponents weaknesses. The talking heads have been roasting MM because there is nothing really negative to say about the Cowboys. They knit pick his clock management in wins. I have never ever seen anything so weak to criticize.

He’s got us all but locked up for division title.

He’s got us in position to get #1 seed with just a little help

He’s got some clock management issues that are an issue with a lot of coaches right now. I feel he’s improved on that since early season.

He gambles on 4th down a little more than most of us are comfortable with, but this is a league wide trend.

He’s not Garret

I don’t want to place my head in a lit oven during his P.Cs like I did with Garret.

I would say overall, I’m happy with him so far. I’m interested to see how well this team performs under him in the playoffs.

He was a pretty good LT for the Ravens. Good movie about his life. That’s about it.

We make the playoffs and If we made the SB I hope there is no need for strict clock management. After watching us play the giants get down to the 5 with 16 seconds left and he refuses to call a time out. Said we wanted 3, are you kidding me. You don’t want to take any shots at 7. How many time outs did he have at the time. Even with only 1 left he could take a shot in the back of the end zone. Unless he has no confidence in Dak.

Mike is gonna cost this team the season when his poor game management skills rise like a Phoenix during nut cut time in the playoffs.

Would gave left with zero time outs.

Proven winner, culture changer, he’s managed dumb and dumber in the FO fairly well, he’s horrid at clock management. I don’t think the cowboys could do much better given their “unique structure”, to quote Jed
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

If the offense doesn't catch on fire late here, we probably will be exposed by clock mgmt in the Tourney, or the Leg's tendency to crap shoot XPs. Every point counts.

Quick throw or roll him out and if nothing there then throw it away. We need to get in a habit of getting every point we can. I know it’s a crappy team with no shot but good practice..

Ultimately the measurement will be in the playoffs. All of these attributes make little difference over previous staffs if we come up short.

Unless of course in the end we just enjoy being disappointed and frustrated with certain coaches.

The mindset of this team is the best it's been since the days of good ol' helmet hair.
I credit the HC entirely for that.

Some people just enjoy burning it all down.
What next?
Worst NFC East title? Worst #2 seed?
Worst playoff win? Worst SB victory?
You get the idea.
