Where does BigMac Rank?

Winning NFL games goes way beyond good coaching. Take the 49ers, for example, who've gone from last-place finishers to Super Bowl contenders back to last-place finishers over the last three years. They've had Kyle Shanahan, the same well-regarded head coach, atop their staff the whole time, but other circumstances -- quarterback play, big-name injuries -- weighed in heavily. Still, one of the best tickets to consistent success is having a smart mind manning the headset on the sidelines.

On the CBS list, BigMac somes in at:

23. Mike McCarthy (Cowboys)
Season: 2nd with Cowboys, 15th as HC
Career record: 131-87-2 (.600)
Playoff record: 10-8 (1-0 in Super Bowl)

One of the toughest to rank, McCarthy's accomplishments are undeniable, even if most credit them to Aaron Rodgers. And yet he's also 16-26 since 2017. Good for him allowing Kellen Moore to retain offensive oversight in 2020, and Dak Prescott's injury obviously hurt his Dallas debut, but it's tough to believe in McCarthy as an innovator in today's NFL.

Sounds about right. He's JAG. Kind of toad-ish so far. Kind of like Wade. Still better than Garrett but I think the Jones' boys could've found a more exciting/young driven coach. Maybe that is K. Moore if the team fails horribly this year.

He sucks. But I still won't hold him responsible for how bad last season turned out. Tell me one HC who can put together a decent season with half their starters on the IR? Hell, Garrett lost 1 key player and could only win 1 game. Imagine if he had to deal with all the injuries MM had to deal with last season.

Right below Dave Campo / Chan Gailey

i def dont have him at 23 but i wouldnt rank him higher than 18 either

based on last season alone what coach wins anything with your entire starting oline and 2 of the backups on ir and your starting qb and defense missing loads of games

Ugh, the love for Garrett's twin, Moore, is unbearable! Some fans don't realize how many games Dallas lost due to Moore's horrific play calls. That's why he's ranked 21st in the good ole offensive coordinators department. Instead, they blame MM & or Dak!

Moore gets a free pass as much as Wentz.

I don't think it is a fair question at this point. Being fired from the Packers was not a good thing for his career. However, it's not like he didn't win a Super Bowl while he was the Head Coach of the Packers. That alone earned him a second chance in the NFL. The Jones boys understood this and allowed him a thorough vetting process which he passed with flying colors according to the Joneses. So, announced as the new Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys, and shortly after comes the coronavirus that shuts down everything. 2020 was not a good time for a newly fired head coach to put his best foot forward. Virtual team meetings are a terrible way to introduce yourself to the team or install a new scheme. And as if that wasn't bad enough, a series of events beyond Mike McCarthy's control would happen... the preseason games were canceled, training camp in Oxnard was canceled and so they had it at their facilities in Frisco but closed to the public. Needless to say, the Cowboys were ill-prepared for the 2020 season. The Cowboys' 2020 season speaks for itself... injury bug, limited crowds, pandemic restrictions. IMO, putting that on BigMac is not fair. Judgment should be reserved for another time.

Not his staunchest supporter...BUT, a 60% win clip over 220 career games, a winning playoff record and a SB should have him ranked much higher than 23. He shouldn't have too many ranked ahead of him tbh.

Prove it year for Big Mac.

Moore is protected by Jerrah. We all know it. He is the next coaching move. Jerrah wants him to learn from Big Mike about HC-ing. Jerrah did this before with Phillips and Garrett.

Um... the JoeKing account has been hacked.

He’s not a great coach but he’s better than Garrett. Then again, so is my grandmother.

It will come off as a dig to some but in relation to Garrett it’s important: If the team is loaded enough, McCarthy has proven he can win playoff games.

another list made solely opinion that is about worth maybe wiping my hiney with tomorrow morning..o_O

bring uo Shanahan is joke he got ,lucky his record is horrible outside of a one year anomaly like Pederson who is now shipped down the road. Ironic isnt it he allegedly a great young mind roaming the sideline year when he missing his starting QB or has rash of injurers hes about as good as 16 your old playing madden..

IDC where mm is ranked and not even sure what list of ranking this is all time for going into the season.

Ironic you say it was WR that made MM well was it Brady who made Belicheat? first year with him and belicheat was what 7-9 ouch..

so i guess BB should be ranked 22 because 7-9 is his last year..hmm irony running peasoup thick in here..

so ridiculous ,media creating lists to get clicks..

to the posters who are a serious team haters hiding behind articles you dig up and claim its not your opinion when we all know you use any and all negative article's to reinforce your own feelings..

dont see any good articles links from you..smh:huh: pathetic

Looking at some of the HC's ranked ahead of McCarthy it's easy to see how much of a joke that list is.
very true lists are just opinion not fact and posters lie to find lists to fit narratives to drive new thread..they are as bad as the media sources creating them.
