Context is important. I have read a lot of angst and trepidation regarding the signing of Sanchez and I also associate him with some historical gaffes and questionable performances over the years.

At the same time I understand that QB talent in the league is pretty horrible. That led me to wonder where he fit in the grand scheme of second string NFL QBs. I'm not sure how to rank them so I figured I'd ask the board for help. How do you rank them?

I went ahead and went to Ourlads and listed all the QB2 they had listed. I also added games started and QB rating to help break ties and whatnot. Be careful though some of those rating are based on very small sample sizes like Savage and Nassib.

Anywho, where does Sanchez rank in this mess?

I think more the issue is his thinking he is starting material and not being comfortable in a backup role, thus creating a little bit of drama with his comments and demeanor. The bottom line is are the boyz better with him at backup and the answer is a resounding yes.

That list stinks, and so does Sanchez. I think a lot is people are overestimating his abilities. He might be middle of the pack in that list.

Sanchez is servicable as a backup. I mean he is better than Moore or Showers at this point. Basically, he is not a bum and can manage a game or two if needed. Will he be a great Cowboy..No is he a bit of a laughing stock..Yes. But, can he help the club short term Yes. The fans must hold thier noses and hope for a reliable Mark. It should be fun!

I just hope that the Cowboys don't get fancy and try to start him if Dak struggles early. The Matt Cassel kneejerk last year was bad.

Middle of the road at best...2, 3 games it's not the end of the world if he has to play. Anymore and the turnover monster rears its ugly head and he goes straight down hill.

To be fair, you should be comparing him to the third strings since that actually what he is. On that light, the Cowboys FO did a phenomenal job.
