Also, in 2007, we were playing for runner up at best. The Patriots dominated us on their way to 18-0. No other team would’ve beat them besides the Giants.

The Giants had luck on their side against the Patriots. Wasn't that the year of that insanely lucky Tyree catch in the SB?

2023 was our best shot to win a Super Bowl, and we got dominated by a 7 seed in the first round.

Only the 49ers had a better regular season and they had some embarrassing losses themselves. Only the Ravens had a better record in the AFC, with the 2 seed having 6 losses and almost being eliminated from playoff contention the week before.

In 2007, the Patriots were looking like the best team of all time. The Packers had a great season under a young Rodgers. Giants had an all time D line. We were better in 2007, but the competition was far stronger. The NFL is so bad this year I wouldn’t be surprised if the Texans win it all.

IDK did you really expect a guy who was incapable of fixing a issue with penalties FOR 3 STINK'N YEARS to have a team ready for a playoff game?
Does he have them ready for any big game?
If Jerry keeps Mike, then I hope he keeps Dak so in 2025 we'll have a top 3 pick for a QB

The Jackie Smith drop. That was a super bowl losing moment.
There's devastating where you have a really good chance to win a Championship and something happens and there is complete embarrassment which was this past weekend. I'll take devastating over embarrassing EVERY TIME.

Here are worst ones in my opinion (in no particular order):

1968 Choke to the Browns when they were expected to win the NFL Title - Meredith's last game.

1983 Coming off 3 consecutive CTG losses the Cowboys were at 12-2. They would lose three in a row including the wild card game at 12-4 vs the lowly Rams who squeaked in at 9-7. The Rams would then get destroyed by Washington 51-7.

1985 Get shut out by the Rams 20-0 with Dickerson going for 248 yard rushing. This one was pretty humiliating for me at the time. It would be Tom Landry's final playoff game.

2007 #1 seed - one and done - 13-3. Played flat against a team they had swept, but the Giants got so hot they beat the 18-0 Patriots. Could have won this game if they weren't so flat.

2016 #1 seed - one and done - 13-3 and were a mere 5 plays away from being 16-0. Had even beat the Packers and Rodgers at Lambeau, but would lose the Dez Catch Game. Had a chance to win.

2023 #2 seed - one and done - #2 seed and 16-0 streak at home. They don't even bother to show up. They willingly laid down and died. Looked like they had all checked out to the off season of personal branding on social media, and wanted no part of this playoff football business. 8 or 9 records of shame from this one game alone.

I agree 2007 was easily # One.
This team is so soft if will take a miricle to ever make a deep playoff run.
2007 was the most disappointing by far. I expected nothing less than a SB appearance. But it wasn't a choke job. The Cowboys came out and played. This year was a full on choke. The Cowboys went into the fetal position against the 7th seed.

I'd still probably put 2007 first with this one second. I never thought this team was going to the SB but I thought thanks to Philly choking, we had a shot to get to the NFCCG. Silly me. This team decided to go on vacation early.

This was bad but to me it was the 2007 Giant playoff game when we lost to them at home. I knew we were toast because Wade Phillips was telling the team how getting the bye was like getting a playoff victory!

This years game was right up there though.

After looking at my list I'd have to say that yes, this year rates as the worst of the worst.

There's coming out flat and letting an inferior team upset you, there's getting blown out because of being flat and the other team is on fire, and then there is not even bothering to show up.

Checking out before the game is even played, and then getting destroyed in humiliating fashion to a weaker opponent. Add breaking a bunch of horrible records on top of that. It's the worst.

Conclusion - I have trouble imagining any more ways the Cowboys can find to humiliate us after this. It will take a maximum effort and creativity to come up with a football hell fan torture for a worse playoff choke job.

*In the last 28 years

It's really high for me.

I think 2007 is my #1, but this might be my #2.

The football gods did their best to align the stars for Dallas to take advantage....and they massively failed. When the NFC East crown was looking out of reach, Philly decided to have a massive season collapse and hand over the conference. We win the NFC East. We beat Detroit to make it to the #2 seed. We get paired up with the #7 seed at home, a 9-8 Green Bay team (that was 3-6 halfway through the season). And of course, we all knew Tampa was going to beat Philly and would have come to Dallas. Two very winnable games IMO. The NFC Championship trip was there for the taking. Their answer to all this? Not only lose, but get absolutely rolled.

Ditto for me.
Good call.

2007 was not a choke job. We lost to the team that beat the 19-0 Patriots who had steam rolled the league. Not only that but a couple dropped passes from beating them. The team did not fold up tent like Sunday.
Yes it was. You have the #1 seed and you are at home only needing to win one game to get to the NFC title game. And you fall flat. Biggest Choke in Cowboy history. I still see Twill dropping that slant touchdown pass.

1) this game Sunday.

Way further down....

2) Mavs fall to golden state in 1st round 07? 08? After having a league best record and I think the best record ever for a mavericks team.

3) Rangers collapse in 2011 up 3-2 on St Louis.
Talking football not the other teams.

That 2007 loss to the Giants still puts knots in my stomach to this day.

That team was primed for the Super Bowl and they stopped themselves.

I don't think this year's Cowboys team was Super Bowl worthy. I was hoping to get to the NFC Title Game and see what happened.

2007 is worst, I would never get over that loss besides the Clark game winning catch against the 49ers, if Cowboys would have won against the Giants, the NFC Championship and Super Bowl drought would finally be over even though I do not think Cowboys would have defeated the Patriots in the Super Bowl
