Where Has The Passion And Emotion Gone From This Team?

I was watching some other games on rewind and I see players on the sidelines up jumping around, huddling up talking among themselves, reacting to what is going on around them, ect. If its good, they are all excited and slapping each other on the helmets, if its bad they are up talking and discussing and even sometimes getting in people's faces, ect...

Then our sideline, just looks depressing. Players sitting by themselves, all solemn and quite, nobody really talking to anybody, players not really into the game, just kinda looking around. Everybody looks disinterested, nobody looks like they even want to be there, they just stare off into space. Very apparent that nobody is having any fun or enjoying anything. They literally look like they cant wait for the game to be over with so they can go home.

Even Garrett, looked catatonic on the sideline yesterday. No emotion, no reacting to anything, standing by himself most of the time, not talking to anybody, not talking with any players or working the refs or anything. Maybe he got in trouble for getting penalized last week so he decided to just play it cool this week, but it was just weird. He too looked like he couldn't wait for the game to be over.

Maybe its just me, but something appears to be very wrong with this team and its not just because of a 3 game losing streak. Maybe they all thought they were better than they really are and its kinda shocked them all and they are just dazed and confused right now, I dont know. Just seems strange.
 
No one on the sideline has any answers as to why the performance on the field is putrid— or any solutions on how to fix it— so they are all watching the train wreck helplessly

Here is my $0.02 though lol:

1. Coaching. No adjustments, no accountability, out schemed and out coached every week. Been this way for years

2. Arrogance. The whole team ate the cheese and believed they were a SB contender. This created a culture of entitlement, not focus

3. Pressure. As they have lost games and under-achieved, the media spin and fan backlash has been harsh. They now play tight and try and do too much as opposed to do their jobs and play within their scheme

4. Poor leadership. Ownership, coaches, and players all need to take responsibility for this dumpster fire. They all want to win. They have the talent to win. They STILL do not have a culture that produces a winning spirit

We have 53 individuals out there on that field. There is no team. As a result of having no coach.
you want to have a chance?
Fire Rod and Let Chris have a shot at total control.
Fire Colombo and give Moore a OL coach who can teach blocking to fit his system.
Of course firing RED would be optimal, but it won't happen till seasons end.
 
Well, we have a team where players are gifted everything, so it is no wonder why the players act like this.

If you truly had a culture where people had to earn their playtime, it would be different- but it doesn't matter with this team.

Jordan Lewis is relegated to a bench role because he is one inch too short and his arms are two inches short. Doesn't matter how well he plays or how many plays he makes- clearly, practice isn't making a difference. Awuzie gets burned left and right and is scared to play any receiver, even Jake Kumeroy within ten yards.

Jeff Heath has been terrible for years and he keeps playing no matter what goes on.

Demarcus Lawrence and Ezekiel Elliot both basically told the team that they could care less about them and they were all about themselves. They both negotiated in extremely bad faith and both were handsomely rewarded.

Jason Witten leaves the team on DRAFT DAY! He straight left the team out to dry, and tried another career. And then he comes back and is gifted the starting role no matter what progress we see from Jarwin- it doesn't matter because Jason Witten is there. Not only that but he gets paid 5 million dollars to do it! What team in their right mind was going to pay Jason Witten even 3 million dollars?

The only player who they have seemingly held accountable in the last few years is Connor Williams, and that is because he is low hanging fruit! He was a rookie who you can try and act tough and be hard on because he was a rookie- and yet he is the one they hung out to try because they put a friggin 21 year old 295lb tackle to play left guard in the NFL!

Oh and the next guy who may be held accountable is the kicker! Wow that will really show the team how serious you are!

As someone said, all these guys are in it for themselves. I won't get on Cooper for being quiet, maybe that is his personality. Dak seems to try and get them riled up, but that's it.

It is a culture problem. You may have a team of RKG who tow the company line, but there is ZERO fire from 99 percent of them besides what Tank Lawrence puts out on Twitter.

Edit: My mistake- they also held Chaz Green accountable after Garrett refused to adjust for the entire game.

They even commented on this during halftime.......the fire to win is gone from this team but Jerry refuses to fix it.

Great post. They're in it for themselves better the leadership has created. You've cited some perfect examples. When you know your leadership is crap and passes the blame to unfavored individuals, it's hard to care.
 
Country club atmosphere with no accountability and discipline. JJ is the one always in front of the mic. Look soft and weak and always with multiple injuries so I question our strength/conditioning coach. Players need to take pride in wearing the Star and the bulls eye that comes with wearing it!!
 
Both Zeke and DLaw got theirs and both have played below their career averages since. Maybe there is some resentment on the team in addition to us fans? All I know is that for some reason they are playing technical football but not emotional football. In the NFL you have to play with emotion.

Maybe the inevitably of another wasted season under Garrett has set in?
 
Someone should write a parody of "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour for Garrett titled "Cult of Mediocrity"
 
The problem is organizational culture, and that falls squarely on the shoulders of the Jones family.

I agree the coaching staff needs to be completely gutted, and I mean EVERYONE. But what will really change with the culture that has been present since the Switzer days? I am not sure how you would define the culture. It isn't necessarily toxic, nor negative, but it sure as heck isn't positive. Perhaps it is just a culture of mediocrity and self-entitlement.

As a fan for more than 40 years, yesterday was the first time I just stopped watching at halftime (although I did do check-ins with my phone). I still love the team and the game of football, but I feel shafted by the ownership.
