Where has the time gone?

This Saturday, it will be 30 years since I drove to the Superdome to see Jimmy Johnson's and Troy Aikman's inaugural game against the Saints.

The Saints had that great linebacking corps of Swilling, Johnson, Mills, & Jackson. It was a rough game as Dallas lost 28-0. However, I did see the bright future in Aikman.

I'm really hoping these Dallas Cowboys are moving into a similar era. I really believe this team is capable of going 14-2 en route to a Super Bowl Championship. Everything is in place.

It will not be Dak Prescott's last time, but I will be driving to the Superdome this month to see if it will be the last time Jason Garrett coaches against the Saints--barring a possible January playoff matchup that is.

I remember watching that game on a cable channel here in the UK... Aikman was lucky to get out alive against the Dome Patrol, they were truly a LB corp.

The team of the 90s had some dogs. Dogs as in arrogant SOBs who made no secret about being the best at they do. I know many have their problems with Zeke but his statement yesterday about seeing himself as the best is exactly the mentality I wanna see. He's close to that Michael Irvin/Dez mentality but I would put Jaylon, Tank, LVE, and Coop ( quiet version (LOL) ) right there also. This is why I have NO PROBLEM with his statement about why he wanted to be the best paid RB.

Alright, another 14-2er! We need to form a club or something. I’m on board.

Where has the time gone? It was squandered by the Quincy Carters, Patrick Craytons, and Felix Jones of the world but hey, we didn’t get a Super Bowl but we did get Ware, Romo, Parcells, and Roy Williams.

And now we have this team. This one is special.

I ask this question every. single. day. I turn 40 in a month and it blows my mind. While I am still relatively young, I can see this ride picking up speed. It's absolutely crazy.

We've had a FEW fun seasons the last two decades, but, I sure would like to enjoy a Super Bowl in my adulthood and before I'm an ancient old forgetful man.

"Hey sonny, who is this team on the screen with the starred helmets?!"

I hope this team can string together several seasons of deep playoff runs. I was in my early 20's when they were last winning SB's. Now I have a 13 year old son who is a diehard Cowboys fan because of me. I want this team to win another SB as much for my kid as for myself. He hasn't been around for the success, but still has to hear about their failures from random strangers whenever he's wearing his Cowboys gear. It's time for this team to get back to glory. It's long overdue.

30 years ago I was griping about not winning a SB for 12 years. Now I'm griping about notwinning a SB for 22 years.

But 30 years ago, after mediocre seasons, to have them come back to the top and win more SBs, actually more than the last time the team was winning them, was very sweet.

If they come back up again it'll be even sweeter....
