Where has this unpredicatable offense been Garrett?

Has anybody else noticed for two big game this year, Philly and NO, that Garrett went unconventional to what he usually does? First of all that's the first time we've seen Ogletree since the Philly game bascially. Then he get's Hurd involved, and Felix gets 14 carries.

What gives? Hey I'm all for it...it has worked on the road against two great teams. But my question is why doesn't he show these type of looks, especially with the depth that we have, all the time?

To me it seems he gets complacent most of the time and when he really needs to gamble, to go all in, he puts this game plan together.

Has anyone else noticed this? We looked like a totally different team against NO on offense, much like the Philly game. It can't be all about execution, Flozell had more than 3 negative plays by himself.

It just baffles me that we look flat for weeks, and then out of thin air this offense becomes unpredictable. Believe me I loved every minute of it...but I want to see more! Why hold the playbook back......it's go for broke from this point further. Your job just might depend on it!

For two games this year we played our best football. Our offense looked championship like. If we want to go where we all want, Miami, we need this type of stuff every week. I'm just not still convinced that "he" can deliver.

We will see.

BTW Merry Christmas to you all.

Not trying to be a killjoy, because I was very happy with Garrett and the O on Saturday, but the Saints were giving up like 21 points a game. They'd just been scoring so many points that no one could keep up.

I honestly wondered if I was in an alternate universe after that play action bomb to Miles.

Oh, I'm not saying we moved the ball like the Saints, or the Rams, or Pats. Hell we only scored 24! I'm just saying we played out of character, personnel wise, for most of the game. It hasn't been his MO all year except for the Philly game. That's what we as fans have been screaming about all year...some freaking imagination!

He didn't use those plays/personnel in other games just to piss off the fans.

Kidding aside, I hope he keeps doing it the rest of the season.

certain coaches do hold things back.. this is more evident in the nfl than nba where alot of this "thinking" comes from.. There its more execution and desire ie popovich and spurs. i know totally diff etc shut the heck up... but yeha Joe Johnson did this every year in philly . Norv turner seems to have made a living off of this in SD. Those being the most pronounced recent examples of it. Its definitely a gamble. But who knows, alot of it has to do with who is available (injuries) or fighting for a playoff spot but yeah interesting to see His play calling like that.

Peyton manning and his OC (name slips me at time of writing this) have done this . Its evidenced by their deep runs, superbowl championship . And execution in during the playoff stretch run.

Belichecks patriot defenses have played clutch and blitzed often during the playoff run for several years.

In recent years ive noticed Dick Lebeau do this in pitt and Rex Ryan when he was still with the ravens. .
Spagnuolo Did it because he was sort of forced to and we all know what happened that year. If the nfl is a copy cat league this should become the norm even more so . The names this strategy or w/e you want to call it are associated with speak for itself

Oh, I know, I'm with you... Loved how we mixed it up just enough to keep them off balance without getting too "tricky". It was great.

I really really loved the ball distribution in Saturday's win. Getting Marion 17 carries and Felix 14 was great! Felix would come in for a burst and Marion was grinding out 2nd or 3rd and shorts as well as two goal line TD's. If we could get Choice at least 5 carries and maybe some looks on quick screens, that'd be the perfect way a trio of backs should be used. Garrett DEFINITELY stepped up to the plate and hit the homerun with his playcalling saturday. Lets hope he keeps it up!

maybe he figured our team is talented enough to use the vanilla offense for majority of the season then bust out the big book for end of the season/play offs so no one really truely knows our plays and has to game plan for the unexpected such as the swings to felix or the slugo to ogletree
