Don't particularly worry about the Pats when the 'boys still have business to take care of. However I don't find anything wrong with wanting more consistency and balance in the run game.

Unfortunately, the team got behind, so they had to abandon the run for the most part. It's not a JJ vs MBIII or MBIII vs JJ. Detroit jumped on them so quickly that they had to pass to get back in it.

I'd like to see a bit more balance myself and I'm not picky about who's getting the runs. My only request is that they go with the hot hand.

We are not the Pats. We are the COWBOYS!!! We don't have to throw the ball every down. As much as you guys may dislike Julius, we would be so dangerouse is we used he and Marion consistently. Listen, I played wide receiver in college, I love to air it out. I just think we would be unbeatable if we utilized all of our weapons. That's what the Patriots do.
We're 12-1, isn't that unbeatable enough? You talk about the Pats utilizing all of their weapons, when do they use Maroney? We use Jones more than they use Maroney: Jones 141 carries, Maroney 126 carries. Barber has 169 carries. For me, that's about 50 carries too many for Jones for he simply can't get it done.

It does seem that Garrett is a big anxious to drop the run from time to time, but its hard to ignore the results. Dallas came out running the ball extremely well early but for whatever reason they werent substaining any drives during those possessions. Personally I dont care how they get in the endzone.

Dallas was having early success running the ball but as we started falling behind in the game we started going to the air more often.

Exactly. It looked like our gameplan was to run the ball down their throat--and it looked like it would have worked if our Defense hadn't taken the day off.

KINDA HARD TO RUN THE BALL WHEN YOU ARE BEHIND.
too me it does'nt matter how you move the ball, as long as you are moving the ball. we have one of the best qb's in the nfl. why not play to your strength?

We're currently tied for 4th best in the NFL with a 4.4 ypc. The three teams with better ypc (Vikes, Broncos, Eagles) haven't won nearly as many games as we have and and likely haven't been penalized by QB kneels as much as we have. If QB kneel downs weren't counted as a rushing attempt (one of the dumbest rules in the game), we're probably higher.

Here we go again.

Yes you do still need to run in the NFL, but not if you are playing in a controlled environment or in good weather...the Boys will be able to when they NEEED to...right now I have no problems with an offense averaging 30 points a game passing the ball. The Vikings are one dimensional and will be scorched by the Packers or Cowboys.

yeah, that's true, but we are a passing team just like the Pats.

If we had a really great RB you would see us run more. We've got two RBs who are somewhere better average and good, so we tend to get away from them running at times. I don't really have a problem with that.

It amazes me how Cowboy fans seem to just ingnore the fact that we are not a running team. Guys, we are not a running team. Do we run effectively? Yes, we do. We can run the ball and we do run the ball but make no mistake, we are not a running team. We throw the football. That's how we beat teams week in and week out.

So many fans want us to draft a Big Time RB with our two first round picks so that we can have a franchise type back but honestly, why would we do that? If you do this, then you have to commit to the running game. If a player like that is going to be effective, then you have to commit to that kind of offensive attack. We are not going to change what we do. We are a passing team. I suspect that some of this is the result of Parcells being our HC. Parcells was a big believer in running the football and in truth, I am too. I like that kind of football. However, I can't deny the success we are having with the passing game. I can't argue that we need to run the ball more. We are a very good passing team. I see no reason to change anything, at this point. Would be change for the sake of change IMO. That can't be a good thing.

Some think that we need to be able to have a running offense if we want to beat NE. I don't agree. The reason most teams try to use a running game with New England is because they can't score with NE. They can't pressure Brady and they can't put up enough points to stay with them. Most teams are not us. We can score with NE. We can pressure Brady. Don't get me wrong, I do believe we need to run the football against them because I believe there defense will fold late if we do this but we don't need to be a running offense to beat NE. The team that can force them to play a safety over the top and make them commit there ILBs and a safety to defend the middle of the field is the team that can beat them. They are not a strong interior defensive team. They can't hang in and outscore teams if they are forced to play this kind of game. They come back to the back and they are beatable if you can force them to play this game.

We don't need to be a running team to beat them. We need to be exactly the kind of team we are. Now, that doesn't mean we will beat them but it does mean we are one of the two or three teams that can beat them IMO.

it's called playing from behind the entire game...:(

That, and Tony Romo (and Jason Witten) had a great game. 80% completion percentage. Over 300 yards passing (again!). Two touchdowns, and for the first time in a while - no interceptions.

15 total carries in a ball game. We will not make it in the NFC if we don't run the ball consistently. I love Romo and our passing attack, but we have 2 running backs that are very capable of getting 100 yards a game.

The scariest team in the NFC right now is the Vikings. Yeah, I know we beat them, but I guarantee you no one wants to play them right now. Why? There two-back attack.

Um, we were behind the entire game so we had to throw.
