Where in the heck was this hammer on the Eagles 22 years ago when Buddy was pulling the same stuff on Troy and others?

I generally think of Goodell as human waste BUT he has been consistent in pushing a mandate towards player safety.

I give him credit here.

It would be ridiculous to fine players huge amounts and drive guys like RW31 out of football but allow coaching and mgmt to skate.

Yeah, that too. Too bad Tagliabue did not have any balls, and Jerry Jones was in his infancy.

The NFL wasn't worried about gargantuan lawsuits and possibly even Congress getting involved back then.

Different time. Frankly at one time if a player was known to be dirty then he put himself at risk as others then would retaliate. Eagles Andre "Dirty" Waters was a guy who was constantly accused by players of cheap shot so guys started going after him with their own cheap shots.

Different time

exactly....Goodell is all about three things, protecting the players, the integrity of the game and the NFL shield..

Buddy Ryan was accused of it. He didnt go and put it on paper as a program for their organization like Williams did.

That was back when they still played real football.

And when players like Aikman enjoyed the pleasure of 10 concussions

Back when a QB didn't cost as much as a fighter jet.

That was back when they ignored the realities of brain injury.

Things change the hit by Jack Tatum on Darryl Stingley that left him paralyzed was a legal but also a bit of a cheap shot but the rules did allow it and there was no punishment but after that happened rules changed.

The bolded part I don't agree with after the Patriots scandal, letting them off easy and then even burning the evidence.

and being the almighty incarnate.

I love how he gets so upset if he is lied to, who does he think he is?
