Here is some facts that give us some perspective on where we really stand as a team, and some insight into the big picture:

1. We have won both of our home games and so far held serve at home. Obviously a plus.

2. Both of our wins have come against NFC teams, which favor us in head to head tiebreakers in making the playoffs.

3. Having beat the Giants, we are actually currently 3 games up on them in the division race (just 4 games into the season) since we hold the tie breaker over them.

4. The Kansas City team that everyone was saying was equivalent to a bye before the game looks pretty darn salty right now at 4 and 0. That defense is for real. Keep in mind that loss was also on the road in a difficult place to play.

5.The loss to the Chargers was also a road loss, against a team that people are starting to realize is a playoff caliber team.

6. In both losses we were competitive and could have easily won either game. We were not outclassed in either game.

7. The NFL has way too much parity to go 16 and 0, so most playoff teams are going to have a record of 10 and 6 plus or minus one game.

8. Even when you go back to the glory years of the 90's the Cowboys lost games that they should have won so keep these losses in perspective. It happens.

9. If you believe in Marinelli and Kiffen, you have to believe that they are not going to do the same thing if it isn't working. If and when Mo gets healthy, you have to assume that they will eventually use more press coverage and take their chances rather than allowing the slow bleed that we seem to have been enduring at times.

Good post, man. The season is a grind and every Sunday will be a battle. We make it to the post season and anything can happen. This forum is just to reactionary after each loss or win.

The only reason 2-2 is not that bad is simply because we are fortunate to be playing in the weakest division in the NFL. 7-9 might just win it this year so with that in mind we're actually sitting in a good spot. Doing anything in the playoffs however, well that's an entirely different story.

Say it ain't so. lol we can go from SB talk one weekend to being lucky to win 6 games the next. Fact is we got a long way to go how this season plays out is anyone guess. Anything said by any player, coach or Jerry gets blown out of proportion and we end up with at least 4 to 5 threads about it. It is almost comical how predictable this site is win or lose

Finally some positive stuff.

I agree. Yes, it was a second half collapse, but I'm not sure anybody could have beaten Rivers in that second half. Our problem on defense really came down to two players having horrible games. Mo and Carter.

I just listened to Glen "Stretch" Smith and he said the Dline played well. The issue was the 3 step drops. The only time he hung onto the ball was the 3rd and long and Hatch hit his arm.

2-2 is 1st place in the AFC North. They have played a total of 4 games the season is far from done.

I give credit where it is due. SD did a great job of hitting short passes moving the chains they were able to put 2 long scoring drives together of 10 plays and 13 plays to keep Dallas offense on the sideline and made no critical mistakes in the process. I agree Mo and Carter did not have good games but SD with the quick hitters and hurry up offense went out and took control.

We may not be that bad, but we are far from a contender. We are in a batch of about 15 teams where if we play another team in that same batch 10 times, we probably win 5 and lose 5.

So I guess it's not that bad. But that extrpolates out to another 8-8 season, give or take a win. Now that may win the division. But nobody should be pretending that we are among the leagues top contenders. We are no better than last year. Maybe no worse, but certainly no better.

A contending team would have won that San Diego game, especially after going up 21-10 late in the second quarter.

The one benefit is that the two losses will not figure in most tiebreakers

Not only that, but the NFC has lost several important games to AFC opponents which drives the overall number of wins down against teams which might be in the playoff hunt.

Not many people expected the Giants to beat the Patriots in the super bowl, but they did it .... twice. No one expected the Ravens to get on their run last year, but it happened. We are GOOD TEAM, who has the potential to be VERY good if we hit stride at the right ime. This isn't like year's past. There is hope.

I agree with this post as well, and especially the last statement. I found it very ironic that the Broncos also had the same score at halftime as ours, 21-13. They however took control and never let loose. We went the opposite direction. I think that's what is really frustrating, we were up by 8 and blew it. That's why we can't take any game, or any team for granted. Even if Jacksonville came to town it wouldn't be easy, and so goes the new NFL.

It's in NFC east too, no breasting this year... More like Least...

NFC East did not look great when NY went to the SB and won it vs what people thought was the unbeatable Pats. My concern is Dallas working and improving as a team right now, we are 2-2 there are many others that are 2-2

People love to compare this team to those Giants teams and the Ravens team and the Packers who also won. Jerry is famous for this.

Those are different teams, at a different time, under different circumstances, with different players and different coaches. There is no basis to compare any of those teams with this years Cowboys. It's just wishful thinking, but not based on any facts. Yes, it's theoretically possible we finish 8-8, win the division and the Super Bowl. But that is based on hope and hope alone. There is no factual data to support any of this happening.

Is this a good team?

I see more of the same. Key mistakes from the 'best' players at the worst time. DeMarcus stupid offside, Witten and Dez dropping passes, a horrible secondary, a coach trying 56 yard field goals, total lack of explosive offensive plays. I have seen this all before and I know how it ends.

No because we do not know how they will be playing at that stage. NY did not look great during the season they got hot and healthy at the right time and won. Based on play right now Dallas is not a SB team but I can't tell you nor can anyone say with any certainty what this team will be playing like in week 15 or 16 or 17. Going by what happen any other season is also a load of BS it has nothing to do with what this team or any team may or may not do this season.

What I find funny is SD played there butts off to get to 2-2 and save them from going 1-3. They were probably jumping for joy in there locker room. While here, we fall to 2-2 and we think the sky is falling. We are lucky. They've got two 4-0 teams in there division right now!

I just watched the news and the weatherman said there is a 50-50 chance of rain tomorrow.
