Anyone want to guess where the packers were at Week 6 last year?

3-3

team had the same problems we've
Rodgers wasn't getting it down (in 3 losses he had 3 td passes and 3 interceptions) largely because the team couldn't run the ball (grant was down) Jackson and Kuhn couldn't get it done.

These weren't powerhouse teams. They lost games to the Lions and Commanders.

Sometimes good teams take some time to connect the dots. I firmly believe we'll get there.

I almost posted this Sunday. I thought I'd leave for in case we lose to the Patriots and then beat the Rams.

or beat the Patriots and lose to the Rams. On a Romo interception!!!!!!!!!

Oh sorry, lost my composure channeling other surfers.

We are without a doubt, the 2010 Packers. All the signs are there.

Good post. We all feel so wounded and robbed by our 2 losses that it's hard to see that there is a ton of football left to be played and that we have great potential. Not every SB champ starts off 4-0. Pretty sure the Broncos were like 5-0 a couple of years ago and collapsed. More posts like this are what this place needs IMO.

Outside of the green pants, what else?

well everyone should realize by now....year 2000 forward....that the league is so full of parity that one of the worst teams in the league could get hot at the right time and win the SB....look at the '06 squeelers, one of the all time worst teams to win a SB. NO proved that its better to be lucky than good and its really nice to play in a crummy division so you get homefield cheat through the playoffs, a dozen turnovers, and get to skip out playing the team that just manhandled you in the regular season. The NYGs were barely above average before they flukily upset us (despite being whipped twice in the regular season) then go on to upset the team ESPN wanted to bow down and worship as the greatest team of all time. In this league, a "dream team" can start 1-3 and still be marked as the SB favorite. Just no telling.
What I like is that I know our defense is going to get better and better as the season goes on. I also know that had Miles Austin played against Detroit, there's no way we lose that game. Our OL will get better and better, they are very young. If we can get a couple of players to step up...(perhaps WR Robinson is one?) and Romo to stop choking we're easily as good as anyone. Unfortunately, if Romo keeps choking and injuries keep biting us, we can easily be as bad as anyone too. We easily have the potential to go on a tear and I expect we'll peak at the end of the season (people will hopefully be healthy and comfortable with our schemes) but then again....so do about 20 other teams.

I feel the same way... kind of.

I believe this team will only get better as they get healthier and the season moves on. The only problem i see is we will go as far as our QB takes us, and right now, its hard to believe in Romo.

I want to, i really do. But he just makes the same mistakes over and over. Hopefully he learns, but we have been hoping that for years.

My fingers are still crossed because i believe this team could do some special things this year, but romo can't have those collapses anymore.

The NFL is an aggressive and challenging type of sport. To analyze and see directions of change, one needs to relate to points that are positive when trying to see strengths.

I think that Laurent Robinson's showing is important. He has transitioned very quickly and shown to be a weapon that can win some of the unshielded battles in the passing game. This is a positive.

Even if he wasn't contested coming off the line of scrimmage by the Lions, he presented a good target and closed the deal with good hands. Even over the middle. He has gained the new found confidence by Tony Romo.

Now, when there is need for multiple receivers, the group has been assembled to fill the need. As, even with injuries, the Dallas passing attack has proven to be potent against the top defensive units in the league to this point of the season. It's funny, how every team that Dallas has played so far, that their respective records include three to four wins.

Despite that, Dallas has remained a top 6 team as far as offensive production. That, without both starting wide receivers and Tony Romo himself injured and taking pain killers through the games.

It has also shown, despite shortage on personnel, to be able to stand toe to toe with the top guns in the league as well. All the games have been settled within a margin of less than a touchdown.

But, as the season progresses, the offense will be facing just a little less productive offenses. Things change, but when healthy following the bye week, Dallas will then have a trio of wide receivers: Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, and now - Laurent Robinson. It already has the top tight end, with Jason Witten. Add in Felix Jones on screens and outside, and that barks a strong positive.

And just to cover the variable of negative thoughts...there's the small matter that the Dallas defense has moved up into the top 5 in the NFL as well.

but this has been an ongoing problem for years now: poor runnng team, ask Romo to do more and more and more......bang....crushing defeats because he tries to do too much. Only difference is this year the OLine is young and the head coach is too....not a recipe for success. LOVE to be wrong....but it simply doesn't look good moving forward.

Pessimism is to the core...with a young team, you have to shake out the talent and then apply that. That involves some up and downs. At least this season, this team has started games off being competitive.

But if one is going to compare to a static pie graph based upon wins or losses at some point beyond a three year window, then he isn't dealing with the real dynamics of change as well as the personnel on this very team. There has been something like a 60-70% change in players over that same period of time.

And if one is building parallel pie charts, then strength of players that have strong team contracts, have been improving during that same period.

We are not the Packers. they kicked our butts last year.

:D And the Cowboys kicker their butts the previous meeting...

Some have been saying that it about took them too long to arrive where their talent has been for a while. How come?

No, we've lost two in a row to them.

In the interest of fairness/objectivity, we need to know how many 2-2 or 3-3 teams last year did not proceed to win a championship. Quite a few, I'd imagine.
