Where's this team at with this roster?

So where is everyone on this roster? Dumpster diving in FA, couple trades, draft picks, still some FAs worth a look. From now to July what do you guys think we need to field a competitive team? Here is where I am…

OL - Not sold on the tackles. I think they need to still grab a starting caliber OT.

WR - Weak group. Imagine if Lamb was hurt. I think they need a strong #2 guy.

RB - Worst group on the team. I think they need to draft a starter capable of being a 20 touch bell cow.

DL - Fowler helps but they need a major talent upgrade inside and out. I think they still need 2 starting quality players to play DT and DE.

LB - If Overshown is back I am good but if not I still think they need a solid rotational guy.

CBs - With or without Diggs this needs to be a major focus. Do they lock up Bland? This will be a major need next season and you can never have enough good CBs so I think this is a major need.

S - Close one. Major need next season but set for now. I think they need to focus on the other areas of need but if they
picked up another quality S I wouldn’t mind.

Given the state of the roster I think they need to hit on 3/4 picks plus still grab a FA or 2.

What do you guys think?
your list is pretty solid but i got to question the fact that you think fowler is Just barely enough? you realize Washington used Armstrong and fowler as starters last year , OUR BUS from 2023 LOL and made the NFCCG lol who were their B/Us? we have Parsons, fowler, Kneeland, and sam williams and the former 1st rounder FA.

i'm betting without looking that's deeper than Washington's pass rushers last season... while i agree we need to add some depth there it may be in the draft or anther FA not huge need IMHO

Inside yes high DT in the draft. Even though we do have Mazi, Osa, Soloman Thomas, Rogers, wheat, Joseph, and (daxon?)? that's quite a few guys to choose from for our new defensive tackle coach and DC etc sometime coaching and scheme helps and helps a lot..

but it's quite obvious to most without your lists, see all the 1st page subjects, and that's why your list looks like this, that corner, wide receiver, and running back will be top needs in the draft followed closely by DT, OLB/MLB etc

I realize the tackle position is questionable, we got guys like Nate Thomas , Wally, and yes a new offensive line coach and an offensive coordinator whose strong point was developing schemes and offensive lineman..

I think some of that goes on noticed and they'll work with what we have without reaching in the but maybe they'll get a tackle in free agency left that's going to be cut somebody else's Tyron Smith to be a swing tackle ,you know it'll just kind of pop up somewhere.. Yes yes I know how important it is but I think second year Guyton is going to be better, I think steele in the run game was already better last year at the end of the year ,need some work with speed rushers, but if they plan on keeping these guys maybe they change them around , I don't know but more is being made of this than needs to be...

When kicking game and ST as a whole is your team strength, you are in a world of hurt.

BUT then when you have arguably a top five punter and the best kicker in the game, maybe its not as bad as it looks.
GTB no disrespect intended, but this is the greatest post you've ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the truth, it's funny and sad. We live to kick field goals, damn scoring touchdowns, we drive the ball, drive drive drive, only to start getting stupid penalties in the red zone, it's like clock work!

They need a Left Tackle. Guyton probably isn't it but he could be solid on the right. But then they have steele....can he play right guard?

This coaching staff is going to have to do an elite job getting these wr's open and finding ways to get these jags productive. Obviously not talking about CD but the rest of the busts he plays with. Those are my biggest concerns, they are pretty average everywhere on defense.
should have just never gotten a RT out of college knowing you had Steele still here

You're not moving any of our tackles to guards we already have plenty of guards look at the depth we're set in the middle both starting and depth and while I agree they're gonna use the new coaching staff and the schemes to figure out if Guyton can be left at left tackle or does a switch need to be made and whether they're going to cut steel or keep him those are question marks but I believe Nate Thomas is also a tackle we have Wally etc

I'd be a little bit patient and see how this goes with all the camps and the preseason and see where year two guy in goes before we try to watch this guys career at left tackle away because coaching and skiing does matter I know people don't think it does but especially going to year 2 he's going to be in another offseason with us training weight room maybe he'll be in a better mental mindset but I'm not that worried about getting right now and I don't think they are but we have all of the next five months to figure that out and I do not think they're going after a high end offensive tackle they may pick up a veteran free agent to help to take over Edogas spot for sure..

But absolutely not Terrence Steele is not playing guard for this team if he's not playing right tackle or taking a pay cut and being the swing tackle then he's probably cut off this team post June 1st cut save more money on the cap guy but let's see what this new staff can do..

I think they will see Guyton's progress first, and what the new coaching staff can do before they put him at RT. Unless a sure fire starting LT drops to them in the draft, suck as a Tyron Smith type.
Steele will be 2 years after his injury, and could play as he did pre-injury.

I do not need to figure it out, it is common sense. You are the one and the person that like your post, have not figured it out.
Go ahead and double down on your ignorance. BS will only take this team from bad to worse.

Or maybe they can't get TD's for another reason or two. Fix those issues and all else falls into place.
But we have another 3 years of that situation. And the other will be addressed this draft. Hopefully, they will fix it, unlike last year.

I agree we get heavy pressure causing sacks taking us away from scoring, but it seems most of the time it's our own issues with penalties

Oh, wow, keep throwing out the insults instead of using common sense.
Look in the mirror at yourself for ignorance.

There is only one reason this team may be worse. It was Jerry doing something an hour before KO last season opener.
I will wait and see what the new staff does. And not constantly hate on everything.

Currently the roster is nowhere near as good as it was 2-3 years ago. That could change if players start to develop and we have a real good draft. Not feeling good about the team. Looks pretty average.

OL - Not sold on the tackles. I think they need to still grab a starting caliber OT.
It’s hard to say. I am not convinced one way or the other on this OL. I would kick the Tulsa OL to left OT and flip Guyton to the right side and send Steele packing. It’s easier and cheaper to find an OG than an OT.
WR - Weak group. Imagine if Lamb was hurt. I think they need a strong #2 guy.
Yeah. I think we need a WR, but based on my limited draft class knowledge this class may not be it. I would be looking at adding a player in the second round of FA or a trade during the season.
RB - Worst group on the team. I think they need to draft a starter capable of being a 20 touch bell cow
I would add a RB or two to this roster. The two guys they added don’t do much to instill confidence in the position.
.

DL - Fowler helps but they need a major talent upgrade inside and out. I think they still need 2 starting quality players to play DT and DE.
DE is a bit of a wild card for me. The Cowboys have a lot invested at the position already. Adding a player to this position should be about future years—not this year.
LB - If Overshown is back I am good but if not I still think they need a solid rotational guy.
I am seeing that Stutsman from OU is potentially a late round pick. There is no excuse not to add him to this linebacker room if that’s the case.
CBs - With or without Diggs this needs to be a major focus. Do they lock up Bland? This will be a major need next season and you can never have enough good CBs so I think this is a major need.
CBs are interesting in that you can often find one late. They don’t need to press on adding one but they shouldn’t pass on a good one either. Diggs is not IT anymore.
S - Close one. Major need next season but set for now. I think they need to focus on the other areas of need but if they
picked up another quality S I wouldn’t mind.
I think that they should add a safety. It’s a place you can get by cheaply. Bowman from OU is another player who is projected as a later round player. Again—no excuse to not add him if he is still there late.

What do you guys think?

Slightly different approach

QB 5/10
WR 5/10
RB 2/10
TE 5/10
OL 6/10
DL 3/10
LB 5/10
CB 6/10
S 6/10
K 9/10
HC 1/10
GM 0/10
Owner -10/10

Well I have figured it out. It really does not matter who the Coach is with an incompetent GM.

should have just never gotten a RT out of college knowing you had Steele still here
They are infatuated with taking a guy who plays 1 position on the OL and moving him to another. Should have drafted a LT. Gonna waste 3 years of control just to see if he can even play LT, so far the answer is no.

I think they will see Guyton's progress first, and what the new coaching staff can do before they put him at RT. Unless a sure fire starting LT drops to them in the draft, suck as a Tyron Smith type.

You are probably correct at this point what else can you do. I think the right side has some good options, now the left side is a big ?.

I like the OL plan.

No need for all the detail. This team can be summed up in a couple of points.

1. Kicking game is top notch.
2. The rest of the team is average to slightly above average. While there are a couple of great to very good players scattered throughout the rest of the areas, in no other area - receivers, running backs, lines, etc. are they top notch.

Average, in a word.
Yeah on other words….good enough to beat up on the bad teams and remain in perpetual mediocrity.

At least Netflix will keep calling Jerry so he can feed his ego with an acting bit here and there, and remain “eons” ahead of everyone else with rating and merch sales. Exactly what the fans want.
