1. Larry Allen listed at 325, yeah right! He looks 340ish, he needs to drop 15.
I think Allen is at the point of his career where he's not going to get any better regardless of weight he loses. Wouldn't surprise me to see him released. He really needed to get to 325 about 5 years ago, but was on the Krispy Kreme diet instead.
2. JJones needs to stop bulking up.
Perhaps. Seemed a tad slower, but in the Carolina game he seemed like his usual self. Could be injury. Needs to break more tackles with his lower body, so he may need to work on that or just his balance and staying healthy.
3. Petitti needs to work out like a demon, and not lose or gain a pound.
It's body fat he needs to work on. He needs to lower that and not lose too much weight because he wouldn't be adding the muscle. Needs to work on mobility, balance and technique badly.
4. Ware needs to bulk up to 260, unless he's going to lose agility and speed.
He listed at 255 at his pro day workout. He's probably around that right now. I don't think he'll lose speed and mobility with 10 pounds because he's pretty tall (almost 2" taller than Merriman) and has very long arms. Even still, I just watched some of the games again from this season and part of Ware's problem is that he struggled utilizing proper technique on the inside moves as his pad level was too high.
While I'd like to see him gain about 10 pounds of muscle, I think with proper technique, getting used to the NFL season and game, along with a good LOLB....Ware can be a major force without even needing to gain a pound of muscle.
Nah, he's about 295 and has a lean look to him. 6'8" people that weigh over 305 pounds typically have a bit too much fat on them. Canty needs to work on stamina and just getting used to the game.
He's fine as well. He's had weight problems in the past and when he got any higher than 295, his play dipped according to Nick Saban. Needs to work on technique and just getting used to the game. Came on strong later in the season.
7. Ferguson + 15 (I think his weight loss made him weaker)
He's fine. He wasn't Casey Hampton, but still a good Nose Guard. Remember, he's 31 years old and you typically want to keep the weight down once you get past 30.
Saw so little of him, it was hard to tell much about him. Needs to stay healthy.
I like NE's Linebackers because they are mammoth and mobile, but a 240-245 pound ILB can work very well in the 3-4.
9. RW - 10 (it's time for him to slim down a bit)
I thought his coverage was pretty good this year, but I'm a bit concerned about how long he can play effectively at the current weight.
I think Al Johnson needs to gain weight, but from the sounds of it he literally cannot do so without putting on too much fat. Terrence Copper needs to gain some muscle as he struggles getting off the line of scrimmage. Jacques Reeves could stand to put on some pounds since he's probably the tallest CB they've got and he's an inconsistent tackler.
