This is a topic just to pass some time during this dead peroid. In your opinion, which current NFL Player do you think would make the best head coach when their career is over? Im interested to hear peoples opinion on this.

I would have to say Brooking. I would not be surprised to see him go into coaching in the near future.

Witten is my guess
Hasn't Witten coached kids in the past? He strikes me as the coaching type as well.

My guess would be Orlando Scandrick. He would be the right kind of motivational coach. He's the kind of coach who would tell his players, "This practice will be so rough that it'll break your ankles!!!" And of course, it would be.

Seriously though, my choice would be Bradie James. He has the right temperment for the job along with the experience.

Tony Romo. He did it last year after he got hurt and even the Defensive guys seek him out for input. He's leading the practices and from what I hear the team looks good. Those who think so credit how organized he is.

Good topic. I think both Kitna and Romo would be great coaches. Romo as an OC, in particular.

Defensively, I could see Bradie or Ratliff coaching one day. Sam Hurd might make a good WR or ST coach--hard worker who overachieves and never made huge paydays in the NFL as a player. That coaches' salary would probably look pretty good to him.

I can see Witten or Ratliff being coaches but maybe not head coaches. I would say Kitna most likely has the right type of energy for that. Also I can see Ware being the quiet and motivating type HC.

Keith Brooking - Great Fire and motivator. Understands the position
Ray Lewis - Currently the best motivatior in football. One of the best ever at his postion.
Peyton Manning - Already a coach
Jason Witten - Best player at this position
Champ Bailey - Skillful
Charles Woodson - Skillful
Kurt Warner - Smart
LaDainian Tomlinson - Persistent
Tony Richardson - Old School bruiser
Alan Faneca - Mauler
Larry Fitzgerald - Smart and skillful.

Of your list, I think Peyton and Ray Lewis would make great coaches...

I'd go with Witten, but I know i'll get harassed, but Austin would make a great positional coach, as someone who came from the bottom and worked his way up, plus with his temperament and smart's he should be able to get the most out of most WR's.

Not only do I think Romo would be a terrific NFL HC, I would almost BET he becomes one. He's been through it all, knows the QB position, and has learned from some of the best minds and mentors in the game.

I think he has the football junkie mentality to do extremely well as a HC, and would be highly successful if he ventures to the coaching ranks post-retirement.

No harassment at all for your Austin comment. I think this might be the first time you've said something rational about Miles.

Anyone else reading this? We need to mark this date on the calendar.

For current players, I'll go with Maurice Jones-Drew. Hard-worker, smart, charismatic, and a nice guy. Good face for a coach and would do very well motivating players.

Jason Garrett might need a new quarterbacks coach/offensive coordinator in about 6 or 7 years ;)

I think highly of Romo and if he choose to get into the coaching profession I think he would do fine but I just don't see him becoming a coach. I think there are other things in life he enjoys to be putting in the long hours that coaches must put in. I always though Darren Woodson would be the perfect player to become a coach but as he said it requires so much of your time year around. I can see why coaches get burned out after a while.

I know which player would not make good coaches...anyone in the Cowboys secondary!

I don't know most players who became coaches were JAG as players. There have been a few exception but by and large we are not talking many HOF players going into coaching

Most coaches were JAGs because they had limited athletic ability; however, all coaches that were players, were students of the game. The Cowboy's secondary is the opposite. All of them have good to great athletic ability but are mental midgets.
