Which four DE's will be active by the middle of the season?

Last season we usually had four DE's active and in the rotation each game. Coleman was inactive 4 games - Ratilff the other 12. Now Jason Hatcher will be added to the mix.

So I would think the first three active guys is a no-brainer:
1) Marcus Spears
2) Chris Canty
3) Greg Ellis

So who will be the fourth by the middle of the season?
- Jason Hatcher?
- Jay Ratliff?
- Kenyon Coleman?

Maybe Hatcher will have a "redshirt" year like Ratliff did, and Ratliff will play more. However, the selection of Hatcher leads me to believe they do not feel "loaded" at this position - meaning they know Ellis' days are numbered and they are uncertain about Coleman and Ratliff's futures.

They claim Hatcher is going to camp in the DT mix.

I'd say DE is:
1. Greg Ellis
2. Marcus Spears
3. Chris Canty.

Ellis did play well last season and our defensive player was better the more snaps he got. BP has admitted as much.

DT is:
1. Jason Ferguson

I suspect Coleman is a late cut.

Ratliff and Thomas Johnson and Hatcher will be backup DL.
We can bring 6 at least maybe 7 DL to the games.

We only have 2 DTs on the roster right now. That was probably our biggest need from a numbers standpoint.

Are you saying they will play Hatcher as a NT? That does not sound right to me. He is described as being somewhere between a DE and a DT. Not to mention that he is way too tall to be a NT.

I'm gonna wait until I actually see Hatcher play before answering anything like this. Also, I want to see how well Ratliff comes back from his injury. Right now I would guess Coleman will be the active guy early on in the season; after the first 4 or 5 games we will see.

Thats what they claim.
Our DTs right now are 294 and 305 so its not much of a stretch.
We don't use the massive 330 pound guys.

They actually think this guy can hold another 30 pounds. Ferguson is 6'3" so I'd guess 6'6" isn't impossible though certainly not traditional.

Sam Adams and Kris Jenkins are both 6'4".

Talk about a seriously premature poll. Isn't it like over 4 months before the season even starts?

Re Ratliff's injury. Ratliff suffered a high ankle sprain which can take several weeks to heal and we couldn't hold open the position for him cause we were already holding a position open for Crayton. So Ratliff was put on IR; doubt he has much trouble coming back from that sort of injury. I suspect he was fully recovered even before the season ended.
