Which is the bigger talent evaluation gaffe by Garrett?

1) Zeke displayed that he was an elite level receiving talent at RB in college. He was accurately scouted that way coming out of college. He displayed this ability in extremely limited opportunities in 2016 & 2017 and crystallized it yesterday.

Garrett/Linehan will almost certainly continue to forge ahead without a second thought of incorporating him into the passing game since it wasn't how running backs were used in the 1990s.

2) The cornerback that we drafted in the first round who is an alarmingly poor tackler is (shocker!) a corner and not a safety. He is playing at an extremely high level back at his natural position. It took us 3 years to understand that the initial move was a mistake. 3 YEARS.

I humbly ask, Zoners, which is the more egregious gaffe committed by our red-headed Wonder Boy? Is there another coach currently in the league that would similarly misstep this badly on seemingly obvious decisions?

Why humbly???

It's a process. PS. Cream rises to the top and crap sinks to the bottom.

Garrett isn't the one who moved Jones to safety but that guy has been replaced by Richards who has corrected that mistake.

I'd say the second. Zeke hasn't exactly had a quality QB to take advantage of his pass catching ability.

Elliott.

You draft a HB that high, you use them as a weapon in all phases of the offense. Elliott can do what Bell does in the passing game, you just have to use him right

Couldn't agree more and was texting the Bell comparison amongst friends yesterday. Offensive game planning should revolve around getting him involved and making a threat on every single play, similar to how the Steelers use Bell.

We simply don't have the coaches to execute this.

OC and DC are the issue with effectively using talent. When JG was an OC he maximize the talents of lesser talented RBs like Marion and Felix both as runners and receivers. Which is why I personally want JG calling plays.

Zeke should be running Leveon BElls routes but we rarely see it,how hard is it to copy Steelers plays?

Being that he is an offensive coach, I would say his lack of creativity with Zeke.
Given that he has been completely neutered from play calling the past several years and now, pretty much, is a comfy walk-around coach...
The whole team is his mess because he should be spending his entire time on team quality control.

This team is so broken in so many ways...

SIGH

You can justify the Byron Jones situation, as there was a bigger need at S than CB. It doesn't excuse the fact that they haven't brought in any legitimate safety talent in a number of years, but I don't think Garrett has as much input on personnel as you think.

This team is, honestly, the Jones' family play toy.
Like a dog with a squeaky...

They do their thing and hope the Squeaky keeps squeaking.

Otherwise it's all just a game being played on us.

I'm exceedingly glad I give ZERO dollars to them and stream games, giving ZERO ratings.
You all should do the same.

Time to take the Squeaky Toy out of their mouths.

It's actually not that hard guys.

Zeke. If you're going to take a RB #4, and he's rated that highly precisely because he can do everything at a high level that's expected of NFL RB's, like pass block and catch, then you get creative with him.

I put half of Jones' development at corner on Richards

No need to go back that far this year alone 3 games where zeke was given less then 17 carries, that alone makes case for the incompetence.. 2 losses that were very winnable blown do to bad play calling and not using zeke properly..then even sunday win to allow SL to call 3 pass plays in arrow at the Gl!! weve seen that bad movie before , we left time on the clock and settled for a fg..horrible play calling SL needs to be fired , so I pick JG worst decision is allowing SL to stay when he fired most of the staff this off season..
