Which (L) Game derailed Dallas's 2013 season?

Please don't answer with the last game, because obviously that game ended our season. Lets look deeper then that, which game in your opinion that we lost derailed any chance of success we had, was it the heart breaker against Denver? Or the defensive collapse against Detroit? Or the collapse against Green Bay at home late in the season? You don't have to pick any of these though, you can pick any game we lost.

I'll go first. In my opinion, I think our season was derailed Oct 27, against the Lions on the road. Dallas was 4-3 coming off an impressive win against the hyped up Eagles offense, which was an outstanding defensive effort in which we only allowed the Eagles 3 points.

Everyone was starting to get back on the Dallas bandwagon looking for them to break their mediocre roots, and to finally get back to a dominant team. Until that point, Dallas's season was looking very promising, they were 4-3 and currently had a 2 game winning streak against 2 division rivals. Even though they had 3 losses, most people were still excited because in all their previous losses they took 3 playoff caliber teams to the final second. Many were looking ahead into the upcoming weeks, seeing they had a very realistic chance to reach 6-3 before facing off against an offensive juggernaut in the Saints.

Then reality struck, Dallas was going to be the same mediocre team that we've become accustomed to for the past years. They had the Detroit game well wrapped up, only a minute left and looking superb with a very realistic chance at a 6-3 record. It was time for the HYPE TRAIN! Or so we thought, next thing we know, Tyron Smith gets a holding call on a run to the left and Detroit is getting the ball back with a minute left to win it, and we all know how these things play out for Dallas. A minute later and all our hopes of breaking away from mediocre were washed down the drain, Dallas was now sitting back again at .500.

I think had we not lost the Detroit game, we'd possibly have finished around 10-6 or 11-5 and made the playoffs, instead we finished 8-8. I think that game really took a toll on everyone, especially since it was only 3 weeks after the crushing lose to Denver. I really believe that game derailed our season, and it possibly influenced 2-3 other outcomes during the season, it definitely set the tone for mediocre.

So which game do you guys think was the one to derail our 2013 season?

I think once we lost to Philly in the final game of the season our

P.S. - Off season sucks! :(

I think after the 2nd Philly game when we lost our chances of making the playoffs were at about 0%.

Denver. Defense mandhandled. Don't care if it was Manning. It was a slap in the face to everyone. I think they know they let Romo down being that 48 points wasn't enough to win AT home.

Not team in NFL history ever lost a home game when scoring 48 points.................................until we did............................another record broken in Garrett's tenure.

You do realize that division games only make up 6 of the 16 games each year, right?

5 of our 8 wins were division games..................we lost 7 of the 10 non division games......................only 1 win against a team above 500 (Philly when Foles got knocked out of game)

How should I start...Take your pick. Chiefs-More Than Winnable/Should have one, Chargers-Gave Away, Broncos-More Than Winnable/Should have won, Detroit- Gave Away, Packers- Gave Away

Think about that. Let it sink in. And our "wins" over the lowest teams in the league were ....suspect. Very close.

Fact is. This is a very bad football team, Has been going down hill for 3 years now.

Blame whoever you want, we are horrible.

And the NFC East is a joke.

Like i said, any other division, and we "might" win 5. ,,, 6 tops.

Denver and Green Bay were especially painful. We had both of those games until the very end.

Easy, 2nd game of the year when Garrett/Romo/Callahan showed their hands and told the world were hanging our hats on the pass regardless of score and that the run game was a necessary evil. It was a sign of things to come and it came in an 8-8 package AGAIN!

Yes... Tony Romo barely beat a far inferior team. Good for him. Romo Romo'd away more games this season than he won.

LOL...yeah he Romo'd 45 points against the Broncos and Romo'd 26 in a half against Green Bay, Romo'd the lead back against Detroit, Romo'd comeback wins over Washington and NY. The fact that he had the worst pass defense in football that single handedly gave away three games late shows your lack of understanding of football and its team concept, however your post does highlight your expertise at cheap shots.

I would say the SD game. There Oline was banged up and falling apart. We dominated the first half and it looked like a gimme game, and then SD came out and Rivers lit us up. We couldn't get any pressure, and didn't even look like the same team.

It actually reminded me of the Seattle game from the year before, except for the fact we couldn't score in that one. Only because of the shock that we were getting manhandled by a team people thought we could own.

I think you could wager Detroit and Green Bay vs the rest of the field and bet big and collect your winnings. LOL.

The games against KC and GB sunk it with loses by a point. Honstley I enjoyed watching the Denver game, even though we lost it that game was a heart stopper with the back and forth being so intense till that INT at the end. And that game was my first Dallas home game lol

All the games that we lost were winnable. Well except the New Orleans game. I feel that if we had a better game plan and a coach that plays to win rather than plans on NOT LOSING, we would have won some of those games.

An average coach will get you the results that we saw in 2013. A good coach will squeeze a few wins out of what happened in 2013. We shoulda, coalda, done better of course. Thus its not one game that brought me the most disappointment. Its the entire season (2013) that has brought me the most disappointment.

Chicago game. Initially because at that moment any team with a decent run game could just RUN RUN RUN on us as well as PASS PASS PASS on us.

Towel thrown.

Looks like the consensus is either Green Bay or Detroit...................mathematically speaking, based on historical games, we had a 99% probability to win both games.

The fact that we lost both games is such a mathematical anomaly, that it is hard to believe it actually happened.

For me it was the San Diego game. After they lost that game, I knew we were in for more of the same.

I'm not sure how this is even a debate.. The Packers game.

The Cowboys were in the thick of playoff contention. It was a home game. The Packers sans Aaron Rodgers, Bulaga, Randall Cobb, Jermichael Finley, etc were at least as banged up on offense as the Cowboys were on defense. The Packers defense was bottom of the barrel.

At that point of the season, the Packers were one of the worst 3 teams in all the NFL.

The first game, when they showed up to the 2013 season.

To be honest, we had multiple chances to keep our season on track at the end, just like the last two years, though I don't really think 2012 was alike, simply because Romo's phenomenal in November, when Dez exploded was more like a coming from behind feeling to make a run.

What's it going to be then, eh?

It is pretty remarkable. It is almost like the fix was on.
