It would never happen, but I'd go Smith, Leary, Fred, Collins, RT Martin. Those are our best five and probably the best fit for each player.

I don't trust that Free will stay healthy all year so Option #3 by default..

Smith/Leary/Fred/Martin/Collins

I would love to see Collins at RT eventually, but I don't know if he is ready now. It would great to replace PeeWee Herman with the Terminator.

I agree. I'm just not sure Collins is ready. They had to have seen something when he played there that they didn't like.

I just posted the same thing. I like that. There's no denying Smith, Leary and Fred are best off where they are. They've also been there longer than anyone so no sense changing them now. So, if you want Leary and Collins on the field at the same time, it comes down to RG Martin/RT Collins vs RG Collins/RT Martin. Although they'd both be best off at RG, I trust Martin to play RT at a high level more than I do Collins. I think it would get our 5 best on the field, they'd be young and we could solidify the O-line for the future by resigning Leary, and they'd be playing at their strengths.

Smith Leary Fred Zach Free

Collins isn't ready yet. Give him time and he will be. Real question is who does he replace next year or the year after.

I'd like to see this by mid season. Get the best 5 on the field. Also, I'd feel MUCH better having Free as the swing rather than Weems.

Free's salary and his role as the leader of the o-line make me feel like Free will retain his spot, but I'm in the Smith/Leary/Fred/Martin/Collins camp. But seeing as how they haven't even tried Collins there, I don't think it's gonna happen.

They started using Martin at center and Collins at RG this weekend, and that was with Smith, Free and Weems sitting out. We are not moving Collins to RT, we are not moving Martin to RT either.

Yeah I'm not moving an All Pro from his position to shoehorn a rookie into the starting lineup.

I don't expect Collins to start at any position this year unless it's because of injury, but I hope they prepare him over the next few weeks to be the swing tackle because I like the idea of taking Collins and Bernadeau to games as the backups much more than taking Bernadeau and Weems.

Collins puts another game like SD together and I would not be shocked by him starting that 3rd preseason game and the season.

At guard? No, I don't think he'll beat out Leary this year unless Leary looks bad or gets hurt. He'd have to play virtually mistake-free and at a much higher level than Leary IMO.

3rd one gets our best 5 out there so obviously that one.

Cowboys will go through the whole respect and loyalty routine but Free doesn't need to be out there.

Best post you've made in years. Agree 100%.
