peters.
but i do like isaiah wynn.
still under 30...position flex.
but jason peters is the better player and we don't have to trade for him.

I'd do what i can this very season at LT, especially if i feel Tyler is just not ready to crack it at LT.
As i fear he's being so rushed and unprepared for immediate LT.

What if he grades out as a top 10 LG? For me, I'm not moving him.

I could get conditioning issues, but we are talking about vets with near or over 10 years experience with Peters and Fisher. They won't need that long to get the playbook down. Hate to over simplify it, but it's OL play, not a WR or TE or RB learning a playbook. It's either you run block or pass block. Certain blocking assignments are called out by Biadasz based off what the defense is showing presnap.
And we are talking about Tyler Smith, a raw LT from Tulsa who had issues last year with holding. He didn't get any snaps in pads at Left Tackle this training camp. I much rather roll with a 20 year vet with 1 week of practice than a rookie with maybe 2 weeks of practice at the position.
You couldn’t be more wrong. Offensive linemen have to operate as a single unit more than any other position on the field. Their playbook is not nearly as simple as you seem to make it and if they don’t have the playbook and timing down, plays will get blown up and the QB is at great risk. That takes time and practice.

Fisher. I still believe last year had a lot to do with injuries and a 40 yo Jason Peters is a slightly bigger risk IMO. Wynn just makes too much to consider a viable option.
Truthfully, I'll be happy with any of them and also a couple of other guys at this point. Give me an OT or an OG and I'll feel more comfortable going into the season than I am right now

Agree but it's scary to think Jerry is actually serious about Tyron returning. I can only hope he knows he's done but just showing respect for a future HOFer until they HAVE to make a decision.

If you had Jerry's medical training and acumen you'd feel as confident as he does.

Since it appears they are finally serious about a replacement for Tyron. Hell, all three are better than cramming Tyler into the position but I'd much rather sign Fisher for a couple of years. This would give some flexibility with Tyler next season and move on from Tyron.

  • Jason Peters
  • Eric Fisher
  • Isaiah Wynn
Fisher gave up 7 sacks last yr, Wynn is more of a tweener making 10 million, Peters is not only the best option, but will come the cheapest too.

Hence the wording, "hate to simply it". Obviously they need to be on the same page.
Whoever is the LT will have to catch up and gain chemistry with the player next to him and make sure they know their assignment each snap.
Which is why I rather have a vet like Peters get up to speed at LT than Smith, who has barely practiced at LT in the NFL.
I trust Peters to get that down faster than Smith, who was learning how to play guard most of the offseason.

Peters has always been my #1 choice.

Regardless I don't think any of them will come in and be able to get up to speed with the playback by week 1 - was listening to the gbag podcast this am and sounds like no matter what Smith is going to start that first game at LT and whomever is brought in will take some time to come up to speed unless another injury forces them into action
Hope Dak does not get injured, because the front office dropped the ball at OT during the off season.

LMAO for sure 16MIL NO WAY thats insane no wonder hes still sitting there, thats top LT money for young in their prime guy.
Hmmm… Terron Armstead has missed 48 games in 9 seasons… he’s never not once played a full 16 games season. He signed a 5 yr 87m, 43m guaranteed this off season!

So a team or two overpays down mean Fisher worth 16mil..case in point, hes still available 10 days before kick off..doesn't take much to assume Hes asking for too much $$$$$$$$$$$

No, my point is you’re drastically undervaluing the position and players who have proven they can play on an island at LT! Fisher has missed 13 games in 9 seasons. Tyron has missed 33 in 11. I found Miami giving that type of money to Armstead a bit dumbfounding but then he was the #1 FA (all positions) on many boards this off-season!
