Assuming no injuries to our starters out of TC and pre-season . . . .

1. DeCastro - I think he would start at OG or OC right from the get go.

2. Konz - Start right away at OC.

3. Glenn - Start at OG.

4. Brooks - Possibly start at OG fro Day 1.

5. Zeitler - Possibly start at OG or OC.

Any other interior OL you think would start Day 1? Ben Jones? P Blake?

On the DL,

6. Brockers - Though I am not a huge fan, he could possibly start at DE.

7. Cox - Not sure if he'd start Day 1, but he would be in on passing downs. I think he would start later in the season.

8. Barron - I could see him starting at SS and having Sensy at FS.

Any guys I've forgotten?

At this stage, I think our starting CBs are Jenkins and Carr. So I don't think a rookie CB displaces either of these two guys (unless injury, of course).

At LB, 3 of our 4 starters are set. I think it will be a good battle between Carter and Connor for the other starting position. I doubt we get a guy to start over Carter/Connor Day 1 in this draft.

Obviously, we're set at QB, WRs, and TE with our starters. As well as our OTs.

EDIT: I am assuming Coples, Claiborne, Richardson don't drop to 14.

Brooks will not start day one. He has the highest upside of any guard and also highest bust potential.

Luke Kuechly would probably start over Carter and Conner.

Yhea, I was thinking of that as well. But the Cowboys had Carter as a 1st round pick pre-injury (similar to Lee). So I wasn't sure.

Decastro
Glenn
Konz
Jones
Zeitler

Brockers

Lots of guys would start. Any one of 5 to 8 interior players on offense. A similar number of dlinemen. Probably some safeties. 10-15 guys would be our slot receiver.

I think it is a very very low probability that Rob Ryan starts a rookie.

Drafting for BPA means your rookie doesn't have to start on day one, especially from #14 or later.

Any defensive player in the DL, LB, or DB rotation or special packages improves our defense.

Frankly, it's one thing to say Carr and Jenkins are the starters at CB with Scandrick in the slot, but what happens when someone misses a game or two or worse? Plus, Jenkins is a free agent after this year, right? If we don't resign him soon, he'll test free agency and may get more than we can pay.

I would love a DE in round one, but I'd be very happy with one of the quality CBs if available.

Richardson would walk in here as the best back on the team.

Now maybe he wouldn't start right away because the coaching staff is loyal to what we already have, but he'd be the best back on the roster by a lot from year one.

Coples, DeCastro and Kuechly. Day one starters, no question. All 3 are better than anyone the Cowboys currently have on the roster at their respective positions. Competition is not even close.

Coples>Hatcher/Spears/Coleman
Kuechly>Carter/Connor
DeCastro>Livings/Arkin/Bernadeau/Nagy/Costa/Kowalski

Taken at 14 overall? He better start him. If he can't start, and he's not a QB, don't draft him.
