Which Receivers Make the 53?

I believe the Cowboys keep six and it goes chalk.

CeeDee
Pickens
Tolbert
Mingo
Turpin
Flournoy

PS: Moreno-Cropper, Brooks, Campbell - I think Jalen Moreno-Cropper is one of the Top 6 WRs on the team, but will have to serve as insurance. Brooks n Campbell offer STs ability as GameDay call-ups.

I like and agree with Pass2Run's opinions on the importance of separation.
I am not the biggest believer in Tolbert as a legit WR3 and wish some of the other guys would replace him.
I will hafta see to believe Mingo not getting a spot just because of the story surrounding him.
It sure would please me IF he got fairly beat out though
Would make me actually think Schot has a little genuine roster authority which would be really nice.
My wish is CD, Pickens, Turpin, Tolbert(unfortunately) Flournoy and Holden as my dark horse as well. Although Mingo most likely ends up getting Holden"s spot because of the draft pick crap.

The first four are easy: Lamb, Pickens, Tolbert, Turpin.

I think they likely keep six. So, which two on the current roster have a shot to make the initial 53. And why?

Personally, my two guys are Holden and Cropper.

Holden is fast, and plays like an NFL receiver. His top speed is in the 98th percentile. He's that guy who can make plays on slams or down the field. Not the best route runner, but he gets good separation. To me, Holden is just a better football player at this point. Maybe I'm sleeping on Flournoy, but I'm giving Holden the edge over Flournoy because he plays with that so-called dog in him.

Cropper has been my pet cat since before we acquired him. The guy can just play. He's a bit undersized, but his weight and speed helps him get separation, which is a big part of his game.

Im looking for guys who can separate for WRs 5 and 6.

Why?

Because you always play a few teams that have sticky corners and so you need players with a knack for getting open, which both Holden and Cropper do well.

Not only that, I really like what they can both do after the catch.

I also like these two just for the chemistry they bring. As players, they'd give us more flexibility to run more WCO stuff, which I hope is part of the plan.

I'm not worried about draft picks spent on a player if an UDFA is better. Just go with the better player.

Holden, Cropper whoever can give Tolbert an incentive to break out ...
Tolbert, I must say, has had his chance to wow his coach. Next!

Mingo, Yoda lad, should be expendable if it weren't so embarrassing for Yoda.

A prime example how Yoda's ego hurts the team.

Mingo.

Maybe this years UDFa's will have a standout preseason. But until I see that, I have no faith in any of them. Or the late round guys from the last 2 years. IMO if they decide to keep 6, the last guy might as well be campbell. He at least brings top end speed where the other guys have no special attributes. Always hoping to find the next crayton or austin. We'll see.

You say that now.

But they still need to evaluate.

Flournoy is a stiff, Mingo is just big, and stiff as well.

I want guys who know how to separate and get YAC.
You get that in the 1st 3-4. 5-6 are for giving breathers without ruining the game.

The first five are easy. Add Mingo to the list. They aren't keeping either Holden or Cropper over him.

If they go with six then next up is Flournoy.
don't say you know this because 0 they wasted a 4th round pick now they allowed trade lands to walk this will not be a factor and he has not a lock in my opinion mingo is going to have to fight all those guys for the last two spots... That's my opinion the dude's done nothing you think Holden's not going to be good how do you know how do you know he doesn't turn into miles off that immediately turning heads at practice cropper in Brooks and don't forget I believe it's Paris Camblell and others.. It's going to be a fun to watch there's going to be 4 or 5 receivers fighting for two spots..

Mingo would have to be really bad to get cut. A 4th rnd pick is not a throw away pick. I think he’s safer than Tolbert
Jalen Tolbert was a third round pick why would you think a 4th rounder is worth more than a third the fact is Tober had real numbers last year he produced that wide receiver 3 production and you think he's being pushed out because they you think they wasted a 4 ground pick wouldn't pushing Tolbert who was productive off this roster and he was a third round pick be worse like where is your mindset really?? What is Tolbert done your family did it did he do something like really bad to someone you know?lol

I don't know where you're at where your mind has been tolbert was close to being our wide receiver too before they made the trade for Pickens that's a fact his numbers last year were as good as almost all the free agents and or trades that were made for guys who some of y'all wanted here you know guys like Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper and Brandon Cooks along with go check Debo Samuel's numbers last year would you like to know that Tolbert's numbers were about as close maybe slightly better I mean we could go to Gallup where did Gallup do last year these are just some of the guys who have been moving around this year but his numbers 610 yards and seven touchdowns and 12.4 yards per catch and yeah he was one of the guys that beat Quinyan Mitchell last year he made some tough catches I believe he even made a game winner what game was it where Rico fumbled Prescott got the ball back on the next play through a touchdown to who tolbert he had seven touchdowns last year you think he's getting pushed off this roster by some people that have potential no we have the information we need the original poster is right those four guys are locks they are not leaving this team guaranteed..

It will be the rest of them you can have your mind all set on Mingo just because they gave a 4th round pick for him where is tray lance I just want to know where that other 4th round pick went that's right he's not here that is not going to be part of their decision making he will need to fight for one of those 2 spots tobert has no fight he is in the top 4 and he is a lock to make this team and that's not an opinion that's a fact the man is already been part of this offense and he's done enough I mean he's a head of Turpin as far as production goes on this team...

. Those are facts those are not opinions you think because Mingo they gave up before for him and have hope for him he's going to make this team over Tober is absolutely insanity he will not now Mingo is going to have to beat out a whole bunch of other guys... Ohh yes will he make the roster possibly because of his fourth maybe but it will be for number 5 or number six that's a fact guarantee keep a receipt i've been saying this all offseason why is everyone trying to push out Tobert when his numbers were very good last year compared to other number 3 receivers...
.

Mingo would have to be really bad to get cut. A 4th rnd pick is not a throw away pick. I think he’s safer than Tolbert
He's not safer than Tilbert if there's two spots left that means he would have to be really bad not to make the 5th or 6th spot tolbert's a lock on this team and I hate to break it to you but the more I read that the more you guys are like really drinking some stiff stuff right now...

Tolbert is every bit as safe because of his production last year as Turpin those are locks the original poster has it right those 4 DUDES are making this roster.

So that makes six receivers fighting for two spots one of them is Mingo so if you think they won't cut them then he's number 5 but he's not taking Tolbert Spock tolbert's 100 per cent safe they can all see it how could you think that what he did was somehow underwhelming it was very good and he's only getting better not worse...

Yes you are correct those four guys are a lock but you're missing a lot of other guys there's like six receivers on this team fighting for two spots it should be a hell of a camp there's a lot of battles going on with the running backs the defensive tackles a couple of spots to stay on this team as receivers I mean it should be fun to watch...

So there's 9 receivers currently at least on the depth chart, its missing Pickens, there's probably a few that aren't but four of them are a lock so that means there are four others fighting for wide receiver five and six..

So outside of Lamb Turpin. pickens and tolbert ARE LOCKS.. I dont see brook's..
So yeah there's probably six receivers fighting for two spots left...

And it might even get tougher because Jayden Blue is a really good receiver hell even Williams and Sanders are pretty good coming out of the backfield catching football so they may go short on receivers this year they might go long somewhere else
