This is true if it was our 4th round pick like literally a 4th rounder but this guy was picked I believe in the second round had like near a $9 million rookie contract I believe that he owe him his AAV might be 2.2 million i'd hardly call that a rookie contract that you would keep someone on the roster if there was someone better say Holden is what if they're the same an undrafted guy with a non guaranteed contract that he's probably only going to be making less than $1,000,000 I mean that I think that's my point I get what you're saying but this isn't our rookie...

We made a trade for him and I know they want it to work out but if you look at his cost and Whatnot that would also come into question if you would keep some of these other guys over him.. He's gonna have to show a lot that's all I'm saying I mean last year he gets a pass because he didn't come over here until mid season had to play with Cooper Rush didn't get a fair shape but he will definitely have to ball out.

Jerry Rice had 301 rec , 4700 yards and 50 TDs. That’s fairly eye popping!
At the combine they didn’t have digital time then so every team ran their own watch. Most timed him between 4.48 and 4.52. That, despite no training how to run a sprint. Some teams tryed to create subterfuge hoping he would fall and timed him slower claiming as low as 4.6.

Because they weren't hidden at a small school they were actually noticed you're making excuses for Austin having measurables but nobody noticed them that's Why now I'm off this conversation it doesn't matter anymore I'm just saying Don't use the small school excuse the fact is why do you get buried for three years on our roster he didn't make anything of himself at least Jalen Tobert has been steadily getting better all 3 years and hasn't been only playing special teams so these eye popping measurables that you're talking about because he played at a small school he wasn't noticed well if he got into camp why didn't he he didn't play till basically year fours when he had his first stats that's my point you're making excuses for this guy...


Let's not discount the fact that this undrafted free agent who is known very well to his wide receiver coach brought him here and knows him best there's a reason he brought him over here he has just as much of a chance as any one else on this probably three to four players that are fighting for a couple of extra spots at the bottom of the wide receiver rotation he's here because of that somebody knows something they say he's undrafted not me because of whatever you're saying about his measurables there was some problems with his character and his maturity and it dropped him out like he spit on or something his teammate or another player another field and he's had some locker room issues but you know what so has George Pickens I'm saying Don't discount the man because he's undrafted and then try to claim it's because he can't run or move or run wraps because I'm saying there's a reason he's here there's no way junior Adams is going to put his self out on a limb for a guy that he doesn't believe in so he does have a shocked whether you like it or not he has a shot....

Does he beat out Tolbert, that will be the TC question.

You make a good point and I agree.

But I’ve also seen them stubbornly stick with an investment rather than admitting they were wrong and moving on.

I’m with you, keep the best player.

Indeed.

That's a point I had not considered, but works favorably for the guys I like thus far. That's always subject to change, but for now it's something to consider.

I hope the Cowboys do consider it. With that much money tied into his roster spot, you'd think they'd be hoping another player does beat him out.

It's much cheaper. I'd understand it for a guy who was a later round pick or UDFA who didn't cost you much.

Would Mingo possibly be on the trading block for a RB or TE? Other positions?

That way, you at least get something back for your investment.

Holden is here strictly as a favor by the WR coach and they needed camp fodder.
He doesn’t have a snow balls chance of making the team and will be lucky to make the bottom of the practice squad.
His future is in Canada!

He fits the team better than Mingo. That's why he was brought in, imo. His receiver coach isn't being completely selfless. Because Holden has some talent.

I think Mingo will be battling Tolbert for WR3. Turpin will rotate at WR3 depending on situation. So, at worst Mingo will be WR5.

A Cowboys reporter did say Mingo stood out in OTAs.

I have to think if the Cowboys bailed on him so quickly, his value around the league would be almost nonexistent.

It certainly would be, however I'm not sure his value around the league was that high even when Jerry gave up a 4th for him.
 
Unlike most of you, I believe Tolbert is on very shaky ground. Because he is entering his final contract year, if any of the younger receivers challenge him in camp and preseason, I can see him on the trading block in favor of others. If he is clearly #4 with no challengers, I feel certain he will walk in free agency, and we will hope for a 7th round compensatory pick, but even that is unlikely.

The thing on his speed. What people are seeing is lack of elite acceleration, which is true. But his top speed is his top speed,.22.1 MPH, which, again, puts him on the 98th percentile -- for top end speed.

That's not the same as his 4.5 40 time, because that's likely below average for NFL receivers.

I ran against guys like this. Would smoke them out of the gate, but they catch up or even pass you down the stretch.

Not all runners are the same. I'm sticking with Holden is fast, although has a slower 40.

Personally, my two guys are Holden and Cropper.

Holden is fast, and plays like an NFL receiver. His top speed is in the 98th percentile. He's that guy who can make plays on slams or down the field. Not the best route runner, but he gets good separation. To me, Holden is just a better football player at this point. Maybe I'm sleeping on Flournoy, but I'm giving Holden the edge over Flournoy because he plays with that so-called dog in him.

Cropper has been my pet cat since before we acquired him. The guy can just play. He's a bit undersized, but his weight and speed helps him get separation, which is a big part of his game.

Im looking for guys who can separate for WRs 5 and 6.

Why?

Because you always play a few teams that have sticky corners and so you need players with a knack for getting open, which both Holden and Cropper do well.

Not only that, I really like what they can both do after the catch.

I also like these two just for the chemistry they bring. As players, they'd give us more flexibility to run more WCO stuff, which I hope is part of the plan.

I'm not worried about draft picks spent on a player if an UDFA is better. Just go with the better player.

I can’tsee Jerry’s ego not keeping mingo. I think tolbert has a breakout chance though I’m probably alone on that lol.

Then flournoy cuz of upside. That’d be my guess.

So mingo + flournoy + your 4
