Which Receivers Make the 53?

I think Mingo will be battling Tolbert for WR3. Turpin will rotate at WR3 depending on situation. So, at worst Mingo will be WR5.

A Cowboys reporter did say Mingo stood out in OTAs.
Mingo could very well win the 3 spot.

Unlike most of you, I believe Tolbert is on very shaky ground. Because he is entering his final contract year, if any of the younger receivers challenge him in camp and preseason, I can see him on the trading block in favor of others. If he is clearly #4 with no challengers, I feel certain he will walk in free agency, and we will hope for a 7th round compensatory pick, but even that is unlikely.
I think that Tolbert is on shaky ground. Mingo looks like a better fit as the 3 and Turpin is a lock.

Mingo will make it, McCarthy didn't want to play that's another reason the Jones's was not wanting him back. Turpin will be listed as a kick returner not a WR. he is a gadget guy.

Turpin is small, but his speed against opposing CB3s is a definite area that should be taken advantage of by the offense. He has proven the ability to catch and make plays and not just be a returner.

The simple/basic stuff like that that wasn't used under the prior regime nearly enough had me constantly wondering about playcalling.

We will see about the new staff's offensive predictability.
I sure hope it improves.

No it isn’t, Jones offered him another contract, Jerry wanted 3 and Mike wanted 5 so they parted ways

Holden is here strictly as a favor by the WR coach and they needed camp fodder.
He doesn’t have a snow balls chance of making the team and will be lucky to make the bottom of the practice squad.
His future is in Canada!
Or he knows something you don't apparently you think you're a GM or a coach but you really need to settle down because you don't know now that he could become the next mile is awesome but you don't know that that's what camp is for that is what preseason is for guys get discovered that you had never have thought that they might be good they just needed a chance to showcase their skills yes in the NFL with a professional team in better coaches I would believe that the wide receiver coach knows more than you about this particular player and he may have dropped in the draft because of his character more than his skill set you could keep talking you're not making your point to me because I'm going to trust the coaches brought him here for a good reason and it wasn't a favor..

You tend to have inside information about players you've coached that maybe scouts and other coaches do not know. That is why you never write off a player because you don't know who they are and what they can do and you just wait and see but you keep writing this guys if you know for sure Canada maybe the UFL why is everyone going to Canada? Pretty sure the UFL is now the place to go ask Aubrey Butler and Turpin, how it can turn back into an NFL career...

To be sure to keep that in mind there are players that we didn't know about until they were brought to our attention like those three players that came from the UFL the place you think players go to die and sometimes they circle back and are better than you think...

I'll give junior Adams the benefit of the doubt and I think he sees something in this kid and while he may be a camp body that will have to stick around a few years like we talked about Miles Austin taking a while as an undrafted free agent to get onto the roster but once he did he actually had two great years if it wasn't for his hamstrings he could have been a really good player for us..

This is why I brought up miles Austin not for you to come back with oh he was a better player really if he was a better player it wouldn't took him three years to get on the NFL level it did so I'm going to give Holden a shot ,because it's better than being a pessimist and not even giving him any chance..

There's no more gadget guy than the small receivers in this league like Cole Beasley ,yes he's a special teams player 1st, but he can also play offense...

he didn't play enough offense because you already said it it's kind of funny how all Mike Mccarthy didn't give Mingo a chance he didn't know what to do with Turpin either he didn't know what to do with Vaughn or Hunter, that was a problem ,but don't dismiss the fact that Turpin will be a bigger factor in this offense than he was with Mike McCarthy.

He's a small fast wide receiver that's better in motion and that's better in the slot that does not make him a gadget guy it makes him a player that better coaches can figure out how to utilize him in special situational football... that's not gadget that's utilizing a player's skill set the man could take the top off a defense and he can catch footballs in traffic.... I saw , you missed it.. he is a good wide receiver he's not in every down wide receiver but as A WR 4 is guaranteed he makes it over Mingo if it came down to the two we know which ones more important whether you dismiss him or not it's insane how you can say that about all poor mingo ,mike McCarthy didn't know how to use him now it's the same thing for Turpin.. I mean teams found ways to use Players like Wes Welker Cole Beasley amendoa, Austin... I mean if you have a good offensive coordinator, they can get it figured out....

Please are you trying to give me how great people look in shorts do you remember all of a camp heroes during hard knocks and all these wide receivers lately like Brooks and Cropper and even Flournoy etc and none of them do anything in the regular season that says they're like going to make the active gameday rosters...

Tolbert is an established NFL receiver now, the man had a very solid season last year, and shows against real talent in real games with pads on, can actually put up numbers. he may not be a starter but as the third or fourth wide receiver he can give you six to 700 yards and five to eight touchdowns that is what we call an established NFL player you're talking about players in shorts playing against mostly backups or AIR!!!! lmao.

Now I'll put my money on a guy that's already showed he can do it in the NFL it's been a slow process, but Tolbert is already established, and he is not losing his spot to these players you hear they're doing great and shorts. lmao.
I wish all these new guys the best but those 4 guys are a lock to make this team and they're not losing it to these guys unless they absolutely ball out and I mean absolutely I want to see a 200 yard game in preseason that's the only indication that you're going to see that these guys might even be able to do anything even 25% of that in a regular season game..

This is the issue with how some are overrating Tolbert. I agree hes a solid #3 or 4 guy, but no way is he giving you 700+ yards in that role. He barely broke 600 yards last year getting #1 WR number of snaps. In a reduced role as a #3, especially as he probably shares #3 duties in a committee role with guys like Turpin and Campbell hes very unlikely to duplicate his 2024 numbers as those were heavily volume based numbers. let even lower end WRs in the league run 550+ routes and they'll break 600 yards as well.

Lol...I'm just passing along information from a guy who was at OTAs, I'm not hyping anyone. The guy actually said Moreno-Cropper, Mingo, and Campbell had a good day catching the rock.

He doesn't. People are going off size/speed and predraft scouting reports, just like Jerry. It's like they don't want to admit that actual production matters and busts happen.

And I don't even like Tolbert. But he's done more than Mingo.
Yeah, I mean if Mingo was better than Tolbert, we would have seen it by now.

Mingo is a stiff, imo. Big body, fast, but just plays too stiff.

I really don't get it. Maybe I'm missing something.

I heard that too, and I'm pretty sure it was Broaddus, or at least he said it also.

And I got the impression he was told that by someone, probably a team guy. So sorry for my skepticism, but what a coincidence they named a guy Jerry traded for and then one he signed this offseason.
