Which rookie WR's could produce early in the season

We have enough projects and one would have to think if we drafted a WR it would be one that likely could contribute right away so an injury or 2 won't derail our season. I know if we're counting on rookies we're in trouble.

Devin Thomas (maybe alittle wishful thinking)
Earl Bennett

Like another member posted about RB's. I don't think we need to look for "complimentary" players in this draft. We need to draft some high quality players at skill positions.

According to Drew at thehuddlereport.com, he thinks that Doucet could contribute fairly quickly.

Personally, from what I've been reading, I think maybe E Bennett could contribute quickly as well.

Generally I think it's the kids that run the best routes who seem to excel earlier....for that reason I too like Doucet, Bennett, as well as Limas Sweed.

I'm interested in Sweed as well but his wrist scares me some and I've heard people question his desire/intensity, not sure why though.

I would be a bit concerned about Sweed's wrist as well if I were a team who was considering taking him and whether or not the wrist might become a lingering issue perhaps.

Given the fact that a rookie would be surrounded by TO, Witten and Crayton I think any of the top WR would have a chance to come in and contribute early on. Having defense focus on Owens will make the rookies job a bit easier.

If you are referring to the Cowboys...all of the guys listed would be "complimentary" early in the season. Maybe later they break into the starting lineup.

Beyond that, it is very tough for a wideout to make an impact immediately. It is usually either a a polished guy (fast or not as fast) or a freak who went to a team with no wideouts at all. So much depends on destination. Jordy is fairly polished (nice routes and good hands)...so is Mario manningham (though is slower speed will drop him to round 3 or 4,IMO, his nice routes a fluidness will get him reps somehwere). Longer term, many of those guys should be very good.

Now if you ask who I would like to draft, then I'd say Kelly. If he's gone, many of those guys will work later.

Out of that list, I readlly like Hardy the most.....has good size, speed and strength

Looking at last year's draft class there were several wide receivers that a lot of us moaned about not getting, such as Dwayne Jarrett, Robert Meachem....but out of all the wide receivers that were taken only Dwayne Bowe made a solid contribution to his team last season. That's why I was so high on the Walker bandwagon, I think it's best to sign a young and proven veteran wide receiver rather than gamble with a high draft pick on one.

I thought A. Gonzolez (sp?) also was coming along nicely for the Colts last season.

I would say Sweed and Kelly. I only say Sweed if he can ever put all of that talent he has together
