Which teams are the worst matchups for the Cowboys in the NFC Playoffs?

I'm going to assume that Washington, Minnesota and St. Louis aren't going to make it although they still have outside shots if other teams collapse.

In alphabetical order, these are the teams we will probably have the best chance of facing in the NFC Playoffs:

Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Chicago Bears
New York Giants
Seattle Seahawks
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Who are the worst matchups and will prevent this Cowboys squad from reaching the Super Bowl?

I think most of these teams have a mixed bag of traits. You play Chicago and you get a fearsome defense that might tear our slowly decling offense apart, but you also get a rookie QB who is never asked to do much and could be beat easy if the Bears can't score early. You play the Falcons and you face a declining defense but the never ending pain in the butt scrambling QB. You play the Giants, a team the Cowboys beat, but they probably know Dallas better than any other team after 2 games, and they have a young offense that could be scary if clicking and improving. Seattle has a veteran squad, but they were very beatable in the one game Dallas played them. Parity, gotta love it.

I would not say our O is declining- I would say that it is having problems due to the O line situation; BUT we can put it together when our Line does. As the O line goes so will the Boys.

Well, I was trying to avoid the blame game, but yeah, the oline and Bledsoe have looked like poop several of the last few games. I doubt it will get much better because Flozell ain't coming back, you can't expect Petitti to learn it all in one year, Larry and Marco are older guys who probably are losing their stuff, and Bledsoe... well, we all know how Bledsoe is once he starts getting antsy. Just ask a Pats or Bills fan.

And I just want to say that damnit, it's about time I could start a thread like this. LOL I don't think anyone really thought the Cowboys had a shot two years ago or even the last year the Triplets (or what was left of 'em) made it with an 8-8 record. Combined with all the losing seasons, all I have to say is GOD BLESS YOU PARCELLS!

After watching the Bears stifle the Panthers I don't fear Carolina, after seeing the Bears vs. the Skins to open the season i can't say I fear Chicago either. TB and Atlanta are both decent teams but Vick is hobbled. I could name weaknesses on every team on that list, but I feel Seattle has the best overall team after the Cowboys so they probably have the best chance on any given day to beat us, followed IMO by Tampa, NY, Carolina, Atlanta, Bears.

I voted Bears. I think, as far as the NFC goes, our biggest threat is ourselves (ie Turnovers) and the Bears are a turnover machine.

I can see us playing a tight game against them, and then having an INT or fumble turn the tide late in the game.

I think we stand a good chance of beating any of these teams, at home or away, but that Bears D is starting to look pretty game-changing.

I would say New York, because they would have played us twice and know us better than anyone else.

I agree. That's why I picked the Bears too. This team has shown that when everything is clicking, no one can stop them. There isn't a single loss they couldn't have won in the final minutes. Hate to break out the old cliches, but it's just like Parcells preaches, avoid the turnovers, time of possession, tough in the trenches, and miracles happen.

I have to with Atlanta on this one. Dallas has the hardest time containing a mobile QB. With the time Vick can buy with his legs I just dont see that being a good thing for Dallas.

Carolina and Seattle are not scary. We could easily lose to them, but if we play our game Dallas will be just fine.

Chicago plays solid, but our D would shut down their O better than their D would shut down our O.

Seattle, because it's almost guaranteed to be an away game. The Bears would be a close second.

We could beat any of those teams, particularly if the game is in Dallas, but a few of those teams I would not want to face on the road.

It may be sick, but I wouldn't mind catching the Panthers in the NFC Championship game. We owe them revenge for bouncing us in '03 and '96.

We would have most trouble with somebody like Atlanta who have Vick who we can't blitz because if we do he'll burn us with huge runs. If we don't blitz we are not gonna get any pressure on him and he is getting better in passing. Also Dunn and Duckett that combination can wear down any team
