Which unit is more important to get off to a quicker start, offense or defense?

If I had to choose, I would say the offense, we need to put up points while the defense gets its act together.

Defense. It will always keep you in games.
I do agree with this, but you have to win those games not just be kept in them. They’re in the season, especially in the beginning. You have to put points on the board early. Later in the year as the season goes on, it’s the defense that wins the championships.

Offense or defense? I go offense for right now, seems that our defense usually is the better part of our team in camp and into the beginning of our season. I think it's time for our offense to stop coming out slow without any consistency.

Interested in hearing your thoughts, let's go O!!

Which unit has the best chance to be elite??!
In my opinion, everything relies on the defense stopping the run and keeping the game within a couple scores at most. If the defense sucks, like it has for years, even under Quinn, then we will only defeat the weakest teams by taking leads and forcing them to pass. The good teams will run the ball on us, build their own lead while keeping our O off the field, and then Shotty will do what previous coaches have done; talk about running but have Dak passing 35-40 times per game against the better teams. That's a recipe for disaster.

I want the defense to stop the run, no matter what! If we give up some bombs for TDs, so be it, that puts the offense back on the field. There is nothing more demoralizing that having a team run the ball down your throat, pass off of that, and keep your offense on the sideline.

This team will not be successful until it can play a balanced game against the best teams. The defense must keep the score close, and the coach cannot panic.

Based on last season our defense better get off to a quicker start. Our D got it’s doors blown off in week 2 and that set the tone for an awful season. Playing from behind a lot put a lot of pressure on our offense and got us away from the running game. Everything got thrown on Dak who ended up getting injured. We’re able to have a lot more balanced offense when our defense is playing well. When our defense is playing poorly opponents jump on us quick.

Defenses typically take a little while to catch on to what exactly opposing offenses are bringing on game day.
It took our defense too long to catch up last season. We were pretty much done by the time our defense started catching up some. We’re never going to get far if the defense doesn’t vastly improve especially against contending teams.
