Impossible. Kosier came down on a beam of sunlight from heaven to save the day. Or so I've heard.

No one has mentioned how Jacksonville's mediocre O-Line will account for our pass rush

Their tackles are going to have a very difficult time dealing with the quartet of Ware, Ellis, Canty and Spears. You rotate in Ratliff, and Coleman/Hatcher it could be a very long day indeed.

The key to all this is Ferguson. If he forces a double team by over powering the center consistently its goingto be a long long day.

OTOH you cant double both Stroud and Henderson but in our favor is there lack of depth. One of their primary backups is Marcellus Wiley. If we run a lot of sweeps, screens pitches and rollouts I could see that paying dividends in the second half.

Stroud is the better of the two, so if you double one, he's the one you do it to.

there whole offense sux. fred can't stay healthy, there backup rb is gone for the season, and byrons best attribute is toughness. pretty funny foe such an injury prone guy

Isn't Stroud the better run stopper, but Henderson the better pass rusher?

True. But Fred IS healthy this week.So we'll definitely have our hands full particularly if he gets going early...

We should have more success running the ball against these guys than Minny. Minny has two first round picks at DE, Jax has no one. We should just attack the edges and we will be ok. Also, Jax is missing thier starting MLB.

Honestly, I'm still not convinced that Matt Jones is going to be greatness...

...BUT - I do fear how he matches up against us. Anthony Henry is the only one with the height to take him, but with Henry only, he will get burned. This might be Watkins' first test.

I agree. Take advantage of their ends and force their tackles to "move". Hopefully by the 4th quarter they will be wore out to some extent.

But it seems if we're going to score points it will be done through the air.

If we ended the game with 100 yards rushing on 30 carries, I think that would be a "victory".

I don't think winning in the air will be a problem. We have more offensive fire power than we did last year, and San Diego's pass defense is slightly better IMO, even if their front wasn't as dangerous.

The more I think about Jacksonville, for some reason, I am actually getting more comfortable with the game.

Bottom line...Jacksonville went 12-4 last season...they won't be a pushover. It will be a hard fought game that may well come down to a field goal if our OL does its job.

Things are either going to get well in a hurry for Vandy, or things are going to get really really ugly around here.

The 2 tight end offense should fit in well in this game

I'm kinda worried about running the ball against the Jags

Don't worry, their CBs will have a hard time with our 30 yard slants so it'll even out.

:D You gotta admit, that one was funny.

Few understand both the heartfelt pride and apprehension a parent has when their child goes off to war. The best to you and your daughter MichaelWinicki.

I am with you JohnsKey19. Jeez, unreal how some guys in here think we are going to just waltz through this team and that they suck. Nice underestimation of a 2005 12-4 tough AFC opponent that has a strong tendency to come from behind.

Jaguars Preseason Statistics

08/19 10-17 L CAR GameCenter
08/26 29-18 W TB GameCenter

Dallas Cowboys Preseason Statistics

08/21 30-7 W at NO GameCenter
08/26 17-7 W SF GameCenter
08/31 10-10 TIE MIN

Their offense can score points, their preseason opponents were a little tougher than ours. Last year their defense ranked #14 against the run, #7 against the pass.

We are going on the road playing the first game of the season against a tough balanced team with high expectations. Fred Taylor is healthy enough to play. Don't get me wrong, we can beat them if our Oline holds up, but their front D is actually a little stouter than the Vikings D, and we clearly struggled against the Vikes.

This is going to be a grueling test. If we beat them credibly, our team is for real in terms of getting deep into the playoffs.

What's the deal with the 30 yard slants?
