Whispers — NFC East (Spears, Tyree, Brooks mentioned)

I think they should have special clauses in the contracts of unmotivated players like Spears, Shaun Rogers, etc., who are wasting obvious talent. Something like, "Should this young man decide to dog it after becoming a multimillionare, and it is determined so by his team, the Union, & the Commish, he shall forfit such monies to a holding company until it has been agreed upon by the aforementioned experts, that he has finally grown up and gotten off his fat *** & can return to eating and sleeping under a roof".

:laugh2:

I think if we're wanting Spears to be a great pass-rusher keep dreaming. I'm not going to say Spears was a bad pick in the 1st round, but he was a system pick. We needed a BIG end to put in the middle of that line ( 3-4 ) and these are the type of players you have to draft.

Unfortunately, I think you can get these types later in the draft. IMO, he's a solid player, just doesn't jump out at you. If he's not expensive, keep him. You're not going to have stars at every position.

I liken Spears to Greg Ellis. (well at least for most of his career) A good player that just really didn't stand out.

I think this will be the year that Spears makes the pro bowl, after a coaching change, its sometimes the second year when a player who of great skills breakout.Plus he knows, its now or never.
