this is a tryout year for fatboy all over again. if he plays good than it's cool. if he sucks again he will be moved after next season.

I can live with this scenario. I'm hoping Campo can rejuvenate Roy, or at least teach him some new techniques to offset his lost technique. Roy will also be motivated with the knowledge it could be his last year in the league, or for sure, his last big paycheck.

Im hoping this as well. Bowles couldnt do jack with him. Campo >>> Bowles from a developmental standpoint no question. In pretty much most pther as well but in this case thats what counts.

Oh man. I was beginning to wonder when the next bash Roy Williams thread would start. It's probably been a whole 20 minutes or so since the last one.

was it my imagination...or was Rodney Harrison doing a whole of chasing TEs/WRs AFTER they caught passes in the Super Bowl. Be clear people...SS don't cover well...PERIOD. Is Roy the same player? No! Is he as bad as people on this board make him out to be? Not in a million years.

I don't know that I saw him covering a whole lot of Slot recievers, man to man, ever.

That's not quite fair comparing Harrison to Dough Boy Roy.
Harrison is 35 and doesn't get lit up like our Dough Boy. Harrison had
tight coverage on Boss. Roy wouldn't have been pointing fingers instead
of close enough to tackle him.

I don't watch the Patriots unless they're playing Dallas or in the Superbowl.

I don't recall Harrison doing a whole lot to stop Steve Smith, Burress, or Tyre from converting 3rd down passes when the Giants needed them most.

To the people claiming this is a "Bash Roy" thread, where do I bash him? I give options there, even saying he can turn it around if Campo can rejuvinate him.

Is Roy terrible? No, but he also hasn't lived up to the contract we gave him. So something needs to be done. Either he needs to play better, or he needs to go. One of those two things will happen within the next year.

I think my biggest problem is.....the defense clearly lacks fire and intensity at times....and Roy's hits used to do that. We need that back.

Good news is, I saw Ware getting fiery after some sacks this year....hopefully Ware will feed the defense next year....

I hear this argument all the time from people that Roy isn't as bad as some fans make him out to be.

Ok, but he went from Superstar play maker to average player who no longer scares defenses and doesn't make a difference in the outcome of games.

The worst part of that fact above is that he is being paid a huge salary to do just that.

Forget the idea that he can't cover, like you said not many SS can cover anyway.

But explain the following stats to me. Last season he had 0 sacks, 0 Tackles for losses and 0 forced fumbles.

That is why someting has to change. Either he gets traded to a team that still believes in him, highly doubt there are any out there, or he take a pay cut to stay with the Cowboys so we can put the extra money into an extension for Newman and to resign Hamlin.

He is not going to take a pay cut.

Nor is he going to get traded.
