Who actually believes there is some sort of Conspiracy to help only the Skins?

After digging through enough threads. Its hard to tell who's serious when they think the NFL Front office is extending this to help the Skins, and who's just joking because they know better.

Do me a favor. Don't flame on me. Ask your Mods and Vet posters around here. I don't stir up trouble. So, don't go nuts on me.

I'm actually curious.

I think it is being done to help ALL the teams that have cap problems right now, which includes the skins.

But to say that Tags is doing it just for the skins because he is or was a season ticket holder is silly IMO.

I voted "Tags is a skins lover" only because I think it's hilarious how Skins fans, some of the biggest crybabies around when it comes to NFL and ref conspiracies, have now been given the biggest hand-me-down in NFL history! :laugh2:

I agree with that. Tags might have had the Skins in the back of his mind, but I think he's doing it to help several teams that would be in a bind.

So outside of this most recent event. You think Tags has been bad for the NFL?

How would you rank him compared to the Commish's of other leagues?

Really, IMO, he does not need to be compared to the Commish's of other leagues.

Why not compare him to Rozzell...then again to be fair that was a different time.

David Stern is the greatest current commish in the bizness. The man brought basketball from tape delay to one of the biggest money makers on this planet. I grew up with Bird, Magic, Jordan, the Bad Boys, Sir Charles and all those NBA glory days that were brought about in part because of Stern's transformation of the NBA.

I'd have to rank him 3rd behing Stearn of the NBA and Bettman of the NHL. One thing for sure he is no Pete Rozelle

Indeed, Free Agency and Cable TV come to mind to make it different enough. That's why I compare it to other leagues.

I personally think he's the best. His product is #1 in the country, and each team plays many less games than the other leagues.

Seems to me that only division rivals fans think for an instant that this has anything to do with the Commanders.

no, this isn't a conspiracy to help the skins.. the skins aren't the worst team off right now, i believe the titans were but that they fixed mcnairs 50+ million dollar bonus...

this was done to help the league... i was watching NFL Total Access last night and someone (i forget who the host was speaking with) was asked if there would be a holdout if there was no CBA extension and the person replied that he believed there would.. i'm not so sure there would be, but i feel that, with the way the league is going in terms of large contracts, it won't be how people remember the NFL before the salary cap...

some people believe that this will make it so teams can keep the players they truly want.. personally i feel that players are getting very greedy, and will go where the money is... i'm seeing the NFL as turning into how baseball is..

all in all, the salary cap keeps the teams in check with how much they can spend, and who knows what the league will be like without it.. i don't want to think about that though, as i love the NFL.. it's my passion, and i'd hate to see it unbalanced

I don't really think it had anything to do with that at all. From what I heard last night it was only a couple of owners who net with the NFLPA to get the extension and Snyder was not one of them.

Upshaw, despite all his grandstanding was not ready to face the heat of all of those players getting cut - he had to extend the deal to help the owners figure out more ways to get under rather than the mass cuts that were going to happen!

Tags is good, but still has numerous flaws.

If the CBA gets extended and helps out the Skins, I think Skins fans should at least understand where a Cowboys fans are coming from. Tags screwed over the Cowboys in the 90's by implementing a cap which forced many key players that Dallas drafted and developed to go elsewhere. So for many Cowboys fans, they'd like to see to the same happen to the Skins and when it's just about to happen, they get "saved."

Personally, I'm happy if it gets extended. It's what I wanted all along.

Rich.............
doesn't think there's a conspiracy, just Upshaw not budging when the owner and Tags thought he would

I believe Tagliabue has helped them for a distance for years and is doing so now, but it has been (and will continue to be) to no avail. That team had a curse placed on it right after they won their last Super Bowl that no mortal man can remove.

Tampa should be right behind them. But then look who is managing their teams. Davis disciples...

I think this is a stupid question. Why would the league office try to help out the clubs. They had the last 10 years to straighten out their business. they knew what was coming and had to have a better feel for the pulse then us as fans. If any club was caught by surprise by this, thats a serious indicator of their lack of business acumen. They dont deserve help. Why punish Minnesota and Dallas for Snyders screw ups. Thats the most bogus thing in the world.

If it comes to light that the delay was to help Washington or any team get under the cap, I think Tags needs to resign immediately, The offending teams that received help should be penalized 3 first round draft picks over 3 years.

I mean if you cant manage a 100 million dollar budget you have no business being in the NFL. If you need that much help that you would risk decertifying the unions, maybe locking out players and stopping workage, you really have no business in the NFL. Tags should step in and force Snyder and other offending owners to sell the team if they need that much help.

Wheat, did you used to be Henry or Bunford (or some name like that ?).

You've always been a cool football person. No need to flame you.

I think that there is a "Feeling" among fans that Tags is a Commanders fan. Wether that means he favors them or not isn't proven, just a gut feeling. Might have something to do with the arbitration between the Jets and Skins a few years back...But whatever.

Having said that, I think its bet for the NFL in general that this is taken care of, for the Skins fans, its a big relief I'm sure.
