Couldn't really find this anywhere..I was just wondering who were some notable players that were selected as a "Compensation pick".??

Tom Brady, for one.

Most comp pick guys are exactly what you'd expect from end-of-the-round guys... developmental or depth-related picks.

Tom Brady was?? wow

Nick Kaczur as well, as I remember. Dominique Foxworth and Leroy Hill too. Other than those guys, I just a remember a bunch of solid role players; the type you need to have if you want to splurge at other positions or need to replace a starter when someone goes down for a few games.

Comp picks are awesome if you can get 'em :)

Joe Montana?

He was a late 3rd rounder, but Comp picks are supposed to help teams recover players they lose in Free Agency. Free Agency did not exist in the '80s.

Here are some names for you; Pat Tillman, Tom Brady, Matt Hassellbeck, , Antoine Bethea, LeRon McClain, Johnnie Lee Higgins, Marques Coltson, Josh Bidwell, Chester Taylor, David Givens, Kevin Walter, Derrick Ward, Brandon Jones, Pork Chop Womack, Rocky Boiman, Leroy Hill, Nick Kaczur, Domonique Foxworth, Derek Anderson, Eric Smith (Guy that leveled Boldin with a helmet to helmet), Domenik Hixon, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Sam Koch, , William Gay, Troy Smith, Ahmad Bradshaw

Some Cowboys Connections; Kyle Kosier, Scott Shanle, Joe Berger, Rob Pettiti

And Maurice Clarrett just to name a few.

NOT.

You serious, all of those guys are really solid players, one even a sure fire hall of famer. It's a long shot to get a stud with a comp pick, what do you expect?

wasn't Larry Allen a comp pic?

Yes, he was.

In the first year after unrestricted free agency began, comp picks were distributed at the middle and end of rounds, starting at the end of the first round (Philadelphia got the 29th pick for losing Reggie White) and ending in the sixth. We lost Steve Beuerlein and Kelvin Martin, and we got the 46th pick (mid-second round) and 102nd pick (end of third). We drafted Larry Allen with the 46th pick and George Hegamin with the 102nd.

OK LA is the one. BUT sorry there are no real stars otherwise there so this BS about how great Comp Picks are is just that/ now if there had been a list of future HOF players there then this threat would have some validity.
You get good playersw if you draft well= but nothing more.

Since the comp picks are mixed in with the rest of the draft, who was or wasn't a comp pick is irrelevant, except for maybe the 7th round comp picks. It's not as though they're in a different draft.

Do you understand how they work?

You'd rather have a 4th round pick than a compensatory pick in the 3rd round?

:hammer:

a guy who's a 3rd rd "comp pick" is actually a 4th rd choice etc etc
