I'm kind of surprised that the team hasn't finalized something with Jason Jones or come to terms with signing Hardy on a one year deal.

At this point you have to move Crawford to defensive end for the first four games.

And then I feel like the team might be pressed to draft Bosa despite better options because we simply don't even have bodies at defensive end right now. I really think there will be better options.

When Lawrence wasn't facing suspension, I was actually MORE inclined to take Bosa, with Lawrence moving back to the weakside.

Now I'd rather have a strong secondary by drafting Ramsey. Originally, I wanted to see Ramsey and Jones back there giving us really strong coverage by our safeties, but I think I've heard some pundits dismiss that idea, and to be honest I was never really sold on it.

That being said, I'm torn on draft Ramsey as a corner, and I don't want Jones to be moved to corner... It's a tough situation to be in, but if Ramsey is there you probably have to take him, especially over Bosa, who I think has bust written all over him (if your expectations are that he will be a 4th pick caliber defensive end).

Honestly, I'd like to see us get Tunsil or Elliott in the first round. If the Chargers take Ramsey or trade out of the third pick and someone takes Ramsey, I would like to see us either

A) draft Tunsil

or

B) trade down within the top 10 and take Elliott

I'm also okay with Elliott at 4 over Ramsey and Bosa, but I just can't see it.

Bosa isn't going to help this team win 4 games if he is the best defensive end on the field. I'd love to be wrong about that, but I don't see it. I don't think Ramsey does either, but if I'd love to see what this secondary would look like after Gregory and Lawrence return if it has Ramsey and Jones back there in some configuration.

I'm not sure I'd rely on Gregory taking another snap as a Cowboy, maybe not even in the league. I'm in the minority that thinks Bosa will be elite so we aren't going to see eye-to-eye on what the team should do. From my position it's simple what happens: pick Bosa, strengthen the line. He starts week 1.

Trust me, I'm not suggesting that we rely on Gregory here.

I just have doubts that Bosa is going to be that elite talent. Maybe without double teaming he will be able to excel in the NFL and I do think he is NFL ready (more so than most draft prospects), but I don't know if he transforms the team. At #4 I'm looking for a player who has a very good chance of doing that.

The new kid from the raiders
Jack Crawford.

Those are your starting ends week 1. Joy.

It's why I want Zeke. The less we have to see this putrid D on the field, the better

Just makes you scratch your head when the team says they want to win now with Romo so they weren't really ever interested in taking a QB early, yet they have zero pass rush for the first month of the season and didn't do anything in FA to protect themselves.

This is what pisses me off. They haven't done anything to manage this defense well at all. It's been a mess for the last 4 or 5 years and at this point I'd be willing to say just go all offense and hope these defensive ends can do something when they return.

That being said if we can get an extra 2nd and Spence and Nkemdiche are there, I'd be all over both of them.

right now its a mess and I don't see it changing much after the draft. rookies are not going to come in on defense and make it so much better and I really don't want another corner with the fourth overall pick. we tried that a number 6 and it was a total failure.

I wasn't upset that we took a CB at 6 that year. It was the fact that we traded up and lost our 2nd round pick to do it. A team should not draft scared because of a previous position selection didn't work out. If a DB, RB, etc. is your BPA then you take him. Drafting BPA year after year will make your team better.

Irving, Russell, or maybe Jack first four games. Possibly even Bosa or Buckner are in the mix.

Well, if they draft Ramsey as everyone seems to think he the difference maker on Defense, as well as the entire team....then if he is as athletic as they say, let him fill in at DE....guess he wouldn't get as many sacks as Bosa. But hey, he won't get as many INT's either.

Couldn't agree more. Realistically, we won't have a great D so our offense must be able to control the clock and that starts with a serious running game. On defense we have to have at least a solid rotation on the line, and DTs are deep this year. I'm good with Zeke or Ramsey, but trading down for more picks is still my first choice -- we have too many holes to fill...

Anyone still bringing up Hardy sounds like that crazy ex girlfriend/boyfriend who just won't admit it's over.

It's over.
