The Packs regular season record doesn’t really matter to us unless they miss the playoffs altogether and I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I also think there’s zero chance we catch the Eagles for the division, so them dropping a game doesn’t actually help the cowboys.

So I’m just gonna trust my hate.

I get it DallasEast. But consider this is the long game. Lose one skirmish to win a war.

I will never doubt your position and the usual logic behind your decisions. And while we both may agree if there is a team that can mess up premium draft choices like a baby just before a diaper change, it is Jerry and his son. I'm still holding out Green Bay has a catastrophic rest of the season and Dallas has two premium picks.

I take solace in the fact I do not believe the Eagles will repeat. So being near the top and falling short also pushes their first choice further back from the meat of the first round.

I understand but there is no 'but' for me. Rooting does not make the Packers or Eagles win or lose games.

More importantly, rooting does not make Jerry Jones or his #1 DNA kid or anyone else make intelligent draft and free agency decisions. I hope anyone reading this can sense the emphasis of what I am about to say next:

I would have gladly risked giving myself an aneurysm during all these years IF there was the tiniest chance it would have made Jones do anything he did not want to do. I would have rooted so hard that my head would have looked like the pissed off guy at the end of Big Trouble in Little China if that were possible. That is not real life though.

What happens in life now will happen as it has in the past, present, and future. Rooting does not change anything. This is one of my stupid pet peeves. I wish anyone would always pose such questions like the OP instead as, "Which team do you think help Dallas the most in the draft by winning or losing?" That is a good discussion starter that does the exact same thing without asking anyone to feel a certain way about rooting for another team for any reason.

Just ranting though. Asking or telling someone else to root does not bother most people. It's just part of their vocabulary. I am the literal type. It always means something to me. End rant.

Yeah, I'm with ya.
This is one of those games, that will be hard to watch.
I can't stand either team.

Since we are still in it mathematically, I just can't root for an Eagles win to get a few spots higher in the draft from the GB pick.
I think Dallas used it to trade down to get a 2nd and a rd round draft pick back anyway.
And I just can't root for the Eagles.
And if GB gets bumped in the 1st round of the playoffs, that pick will be from 19 to 22 regardless of their record.

However, if the Eagles do win, it is not like it is all bad either.

I don't think Dallas will catch Philly, and feel they won't even sniff a chance at the 7th seed either.

Very true. They are pretty good at first rounders but the numbers are probably around a 7/10 success rate, which isn’t bad. Thing is, that still leaves you with three busts in each decade…..and they operate as if every one of them is going to be an immediate impact starter.

Jerry is ridiculous. All summer he was boasting over how “busy he was” when asked about his age. Defended it as if it’s nothing close to a problem.

Then he claimed that part of the reason for the Williams trade was that he was getting older. Everything is always all over the place with how they go about anything.

I guess it’s Stephens turn to get his way next, and we can avoid free agency for the fourteenth consecutive year. Then trade high picks near the deadline instead.

Well if you want dallas to get in playoffs, one way and really the most realistic way is for phil to lose more games, so dallas has a chance at winning the div.

The best way to make things more interesting for rest of season is for phil to lose lose lose games !!!!!!!!!!!!

Phil is only 3 games ahead in losses, so if they lose to GB that makes it 2, and dallas would have to beat them at ATT makes 1 then maybe they lose 1 or 2 more along the way ,it can happen.

But all that is based on dallas being able to go on a win streak, which is possible but unlikely.
The WC scenario is unlikely too and also require dallas to go on win streak, and the teams ahead of dallas to lose games.
I dislike the packers more than eagles so would rather they lose, but in hopes of dallas having a shot at the div would rather the eagles lose.
I dont care about draft picks right now.

I will root for the pack and yes even micah for this one game.

Looking at the remaining schedule for our Cowboys and the Eagles, I them both teams playing mostly the same teams.

Objectively, I see a good chance of us going 4-4 over those 8 games. We lose to the Eagles, Chiefs, Lions, and Chargers. We can win against the Forskins, Giants, Raiders, and maybe the Vikings.

Looking at the Eagles in the 8 games AFTER the GB game, I see what is likely 4 sure wins and 4 tough games. The wins are the Cowboys, Raiders, and Foreskins twice. Tough games, we'll calls them all loses for this exercise, are the Lions, Bears, Chargers, and Bills. That is also 4-4.

Even if they lose tonight against the Packers, I don't see any way that we can make up 3 games on them and catch them for the Division. Looking at the Wild Card race, I see pretty much the same thing. We need to make up 4 games in 8. Except for the Packers, who are the only team that we could realistically catch for a WC berth.

As such, and I truly hate saying this, if you are a Cowboys fan; you want the Eagles to win.

An Eagles win or loss does nothing for the Cowboys. The Cowboys season is over.

A Packers loss helps the pick we got from them.
